I had to travel for about 30-40km (20 miles?)..

Then I had to ride it home with my old helmet with a tinted visor and foam that had literally turned to dust...

Wasn't easy for me to find a local "blue"...

Didn't have to go far for my VF

But the engine on my 1st VFR came from Sacramento, some 1100 miles. Course it was shipped FedEx freight so maybe that doesn't count.

I got mine down in Harrisonburg Virginia, about 450 miles away(each way). Made a family trip out of it and even hit the outlet malls so everyone was happy.

North Jersey to Philadelphia, about 70 miles each way. Pennsylvania wanted to charge me $75 for a "temporary registration". I passed and borrowed my brother's trailer and did the pickup myself. Not an award winner - some of you guys drive wayyy far to get your VFRs!

    95 miles.

It was Tuesday night October 14 2003. Had to drive down to Chicago to go get it. Onboard air temperature meter on the bike registered 38 degrees Fahrenheit when I left Chicago that night,it registered 27 degrees when I finally got home.

Parked the bike in the garage, went into the house and took a looooonng hot shower. Threw on a coupla heavy sweatshirts, grabbed a heavy blanket, turned all the garage lights on,set up my lawn chair, threw the blanket over myself, popped the top on my can of diet Coke and proceeded to just sit there and stare in awe and wonder at my brand spankin' new 2003 Italian Red VFR800 Interceptor with 95 original miles showing on her odometer.

It was the very first and last time I ever got to closely inspect my bike in it's stock form. I started making modifications to it the very next day. Pretty much haven't stopped since then.

    Man those are good memories........

Mine was maybe 4 miles away. Found it in the place I buy trailer parts, the owner was selling it. Went back the next day and rode it home.

My sweet little '98 was 3,100 miles away. I live in Los Altos, CA and the bike was in Anchorage, Alaska!
I wanted a cherry, 49 state bike with just a few miles on it. After searching for many months I finally hit pay dirt.

There is a problem here in Kalifornia. Any car or motorcycle from another state must have more than 7,500 miles on
the odometer before you can register it.
So, I made several trips back and forth to Los Angeles, Portland, Oregon and did lots of riding in the Santa Cruz mountains by my house.
Luckily I didn't get stopped while riding in Kalifornia.

If I lived in Anchorage I think I would prefer to have a dual-purpose bike instead of the VFR. It's probably why it wasn't ridden very much.
I had it flown down to San Francisco airport in a custom made crate. It was like Christmas morning opening up the box in my garage.

With the internet we can find motor goodies anywhere in the world

My VF1000r I bought in california but I was living in north carolina. A little over 3000 miles. The kicker is that I was stationed over 9000 miles from home at Diego Garcia, Indian Ocean. I had a lot of faith in the seller and he delivered a promised.

Mine was about 20 miles away, on the dealer showroom. He had a 2001 and a 2000. To be honest, I knew nothing about VFRs at that point; I bought it because it seemed like the right size bike for me. And I grabbed the 2000 (not knowing it was the only year they ever made the color) just because I thought it was different.

Not quite the longest distance, but I think I'm in the top 5 or so. I found my first VFR, a pristine '94 with an upgraded R/R, Vance & Hines exhaust, and brand-new tires about 60 miles away from me. Had that one for a month and a day before I was hit by a car, and found the next-closest one to me in Dallas. Once the insurance settlement came through, I flew out to Dallas, picked up my '98, and rode it about 525 miles back to my home in New Orleans. Had to deal with a dead battery and a drop that broke the brake lever, but somehow I managed not to ding the fairings at all. It's a trip I'd do again in a heartbeat, east Texas really surprised me.

My VFR was only a few Kms away, but the ST1100 required a flight to Montreal and a 1300 Km ride home. A week before that, I had plans, for a different bike, to stretch it to Detroit, it fell through. Somebody from Cali beat me to it.

I picked up my 98 with 12181 miles last night 60 miles away. I have been looking for a while and new it was the one when the seller threw up the Garage door...Love at first site I thought the wife would freak since I didn't tell her what I was up to but she remained pretty cool after the initial shock at the dinner table. But when she saw it for the first time she didn't believe it was a 98 said I was sneaky and bought a new one. I knew I was winning her over then showed her the title showing it was a 98 and she complimented me on my purchase ......Whew you never know with girl!!!! All is good. I would have gone cross country for this one bone stock and covered in the garage waiting for me.
