I have seen too many riders that have gone down on simular accidents. While some may feel that a helmet will keep them from being organ donor, when they face their medical bills from having skin grafts, medication and over night stays, they wish they had become an organ donor. Most medication is to control infection, not pain.

I have seen some bad accidents where everything possible to protect yourself was worn paid dividends in recovering.

Injury is pain, but infection is a real bitch.

I broke my rule of ATGATT ONCE when going to work one day...had it all except the pants. Wouldn't ya know, that was the day my hand "got stuck" ON MY PRIVATE PROPERTY...went down. The jeans didn't help much. Not terrible rash but bad enough. Hematoma only lasted about 5 months. Not good.
Now? DAINESE LEATHERS, SIDI boots, HELD gloves, ICON helmet, oh, and a rubber just in case!

I just look so damn good in the gear anyway! :peace:

I voted "Moderately Geared" as I always have an armored jacket, armored gloves and my full-face helmet. Helmets are mandatory (thank goodness) in Vermont. Jeans are my pants of choice, but I think I will get some Draggin' Jeans this summer.

My shoes of choice are Merrell hiking shoes, but they provide no protection for my ankles (low-tops). Otherwise they're damned tough.

I never ride in just a t-shirt, and flip flops are out of the question. I have on occasion (REALLY hot days) ridden in shorts, but I feel f-in' naked on the bike. I think I will discontinue this practice...

Always; Full Face Helmet, motorcycle gloves, boots, armoured jacket. All of which have saved me from injury at one time or another.

In town I usually wear jeans, longer rides at higher speeds armoured pants.

I havn't bought pants yet, but its always jeans, tanker boots, Icon TiMax jacket and gloves, and a HJC on the nogin... No matter if it's 75 yards to the gas station or 45 miles to work. I learned my lesson the hard way about riding with a T-shirt, just lucky I only scalped my elbow and forearm.

Scorpion 700 Helmet, Olympia Textile Jacket and Pants, Tour Master Heated Jacket Liner, Sidi Doha Boots, and Tour Master Heated Gloves for the winter. I get rid of the Tour Master Heated Jacket Liner and Olympia cold weather pants liner, along with the heated tour master gloves and go with Olympia All weather gloves when it warms up.

    'Zeppelin T-shirt,cut-off jeans, and oakleys!!!
Just kiddin'......Always wear either joe rocket jacket ,or trusty old school heavy leather "Biker" Jacket, and Joe r.gloves.On cold days I wear Power Trip bad weather gloves (with "dry tech multi layer water proofing system" and "thermolite" insulation, and squeegee wipers on the thumbs.)
Always wear my full face HJC helmet,(one of those cheap D.O.T. lids that did so good in Motor Cyclists June 2005 "Exposed! Hard facts about too-hard helmets!" expose').
I have Harley-Davidson riding boots,(paid for by work 'cuz they are steel toed).
I did, however, wear jeans all last season...Proper riding pants are at the top of the list for this spring.

Ok Hondabill, about your occasional lack of a helmet, here it comes:
    :blah: :blah: :blah:

There, I was easy on you!

(A helmet will save your head, and besides, there are so many cool ones nowadays...one to match every sense of style. I am getting my third helmet this week and I am so jazzed about it because it is exactly what I want.)

I can't seem to find pants in a size that work... bgut other than that, ATGATT... my gloves saved my pinky finger from stitches, and my helmet has the scratches from renegade stones and stuff off the highway...

even a vest is better than nothing... (for those guys wearin' diddly for gear)

    The old school

I put my gear on almost every time. I have had my flash backs to being a kid and I must say a ride at night in shorts and a ride around the Grand Canyon with no helmet could not be any better. Sorry but I grew up on bikes before the law and had some crazy good times and like to visit them once in a while.Sue me......or just bitch me out as I know some of you will.....it is my good time.Let it go.

I don't ride my bike without having full gear on. Currently, I have all textile gear. But, full leathers and a back protector are on the horizon!

I always wear ear plugs when I ride as well.

Short trips around town: Scorpion EXO-700, Olympia AST or FirstGear Mesh-Tex Jacket, Olympia gloves (three pair so depends on temp), Sliders kevlar jeans or khakis or accasonally just jeans, hiking boots.

To the train station six miles from home I wear my work slacks and the above. I know, most accidents occure within five miles of home.

For long trips I wear my Scorpion EXO-1000 and Joe Rocket textile pants. This winter I'll try out a set of heated gloves pants and jacket that I bought off of Craigs list.

    wow, good poll.

I'm shocked to see that just Helmet, Jacket, and Gloves is in a minority.

I have always wanted some boots, but this seems to be a hard sell to my wife. Her father, his brother, and several of her friends from HS ride motorcycles, and never have had boots except the cowboy kind. So paying ~$200 for some boots in her minds eye seems a bit ridiculous. Personally I would be satisfied with something about mid ankle and water-proof. Nothing snazzy really.

I ride with a type of steel toed work shoe, with about a 1/2 inch sole on them.. Im sure people know the type... and its a half ankle too. I wear those when I ride kinda hard, but for the every day commute, its either dress shoes, or sneakers.

Never did the flip flop thing.... yet

    Without helmet

    Skip predictable warnings.
I've got all the gear and wear it 99.9 percent of the time.
Thank God my state hasn't got a helmet law, because about once a month I like to take a short trip with the helmet off and enjoy the wind and the environment on a beautiful day.
Also, whenever working on or tuning the cycle, I need to take it for a spin and listen to the engine. I hate worrying about seeing a LEO, when I'm helmetless for a good reason. When that happens, makes me feel like I'm living in a dictatorship and I get aggravated for days.
    Just the way I feel.

    I admire you guys.

Maybe it has something to do with my driving but most of the time, I only wear a helmet and a T-Shirt. Perhaps I wouldn't dare riding with shorts and sandals. Always Jeans. I never race my bike and the faster I went with it was someting around 80mph. I'm a very calm driver and I don't like to go fast. Acceleration is fun but speed isn't. (to me) To me, touring is more fun than speeding. You pay a LOT more attention while driving without gear.

I rode several motocrosses for 7 years wearing this "gear". I did fall several times but I just can't stand the heat of driving with some kind of snowmobile gear on summer. I do have a Joe Rocket jacket but I only wear it in the morning, when the temperature is cooler.

Don't forget that where I live (Montreal, Canada), we are not familiar with temperature going over 85F. In fact 85-90F is the maximum temp you'll see in the summer and you'll see it probably 3 days. In winter, temperature easily goes to -20F so I'm not familiar with heat and anything over 80F is hard to deal with. I guess you don't have this problem since my summer temperature is your winter... :)

I'm going to pompano beach on August 7th to August 23rd. Should suffer a LOT from heat!

If one day I was going to drive faster and do more risky stuff, I would definitely wear my jacket all day long with gloves. No way I would wear pants or boots.

I don't think this is the place to talk about my " gear "
so will just say my wife thinks it is just the right size.
