First real bike was a Hodaka wombat 125 at the tender age of 14 in 1984 and got hooked on all manner of machines since then. I have 6 bikes currently and the 03 VFR was the latest acquisition. Still not too old to drag a knee but pull over more often to pee.

I love the idea of the new Royal Enfield. Itchy Boots seemed to love it.

I'll see you that and raise it to a road bike. (The Missus on her delightful N400 three years ago... she's aboard a Ninja 1000LT now.)
The controls and feel are so light as to seem almost too light, which will be great when the body fails a bit more.

    I'm 61.

'08 VFR800F is now the only bike in my garage. For a brief moment I had a '90, an '03 and the '08.

I may need a tylenol every so often on a long day (for me that is 4-500 miles) and I stop and pee more often now......But, All is good. I have raised the bars and screen but otherwise I've kept the bike stock.

I do plan on getting a trailer to make it easier to get to my destination(s) this spring but I suppose that is personal preference.

Enjoy the ride as long as you can enjoy it!

    Cheers,

Using a trailer is game changing. Even if I am starting from an hour away, I trailer. Easier. Safer. Higher % of fun miles. Less fatigue. Cup holders...

    I'm 68 and still riding.

I've trucked from south west British Columbia Canada down to Sacramento California, then road down to Baja back in 2018. And trailered from Canada to US/Mexico border then road for a couple weeks down to Cabo San Luca Baja in 2022. But I still prefer to ride the whole way. It just may mean I take a little longer to get to and from my destinations. I have ridden 2 - 1,000 mile/24 hour rides. One registered with the Iron Butt Association. And rode up to Fairbanks Alaska and part way back until I was thrown from my bike near Dawson City Yukon and broke a leg. So had to truck it back home. But I still very much prefer to ride everywhere I go when I can. But if trailering or trucking your bike to a local then ride is your thing, go for it. Just not my cuppa tea.

I do realize though, that in the future, if I want to ride one of my bikes to a far destination, maybe trucking might become a better option for me. Until then...

We've found that trailering our bikes to a middle-distance location, landing at a decent hotel such as a Fairfield, and then launching on trips from there has worked out very well. Say, going out 350 miles or so to get to a less-familiar area and starting from there.
Being able to haul and store extra gear and supplies in the van makes things easy, and so far the Fairfields have been fine with our leaving the van-trailer combo parked there since we're usually hitting another Fairfield.
In my younger days I might have sneered at that but it's working out, and helps reduce weather concerns for the main transit.
About that time long ago we saw some good late-autumn weather and launched for the Green Bay, Wisconsin region... things turned without warning and the old BMW RT's fairing was all we had against a rain-snow mix coming back down on I-43...
