Instruction to Install K&N Filters 02 VFR.

Hi,

If some one could point me to pictures/instructions/videos on howto install K&N Filter on an 02 VFR or any 6th Gen VFR, would be really helpful.

First mod to my bike, and don't want to mess it up.

Me too...Me too...I just bought one and have it coming in the mail would love to see the "proper" way to install it...

 

It's quite simple...

Remove old air filter.
Insert new K&N air filter.
Enjoy cold beer.

1. Prop the tank
A. Remove two front bolts and washers
B. Lift tank and replace one bolt.
C. Support tank with suspension spanner and extension (Handle over the bolt)
2. Remove (6 or 7) air filter screws (I left the front two in place after loosening)
3. Remove old air filter and discard.
4. Replace with new K&N air filter.
5. Replace cover and install air filter screws. (this gets tricky as some people can't seem to get the cover to seal fully with the K&N and the orig gasket) Mine seemed fine with the old K&N and gasket, but shows a little red with the new BMC. No worries, the filter fits in the gasket groove creating a seal.
6. Hold tank, remove spanner and bolt.
7. Lower tank, replace two bolts, torque to spec.

Some people choose to remove the vacuum line (service manual says to), I do not.
