It's all good. I can release some parts and still make sure I have what I need for new builds and rebuilds. I do have a fuckin' good stash of parts.

I'm in my bathroom huffing oil-based mildewcide paint, like I have been for the last 6 hours, but I'll go grab a better picture after I finish this coat. I wasn't certain what I needed to be photographing. I think it's pretty flat though. I understand what you're talking about now with the edges that need to be flat. The part I don't understand is how they would become anything other than flat. Just wear from the friction plate tabs?

I'll go throw it in the ultrasonic for 25 minutes and report back with better pictures. NCB just chompin' at the bit to mill a space age clutch basket which I kind of want to see though.

Bikes that the owners are not smooth... lots of choppy off and on throttle. Or don't believe that brakes (that are the consumable pieces) are the best way to stop a bike... they like to down shift all the fucking way before mashing the rear brake pedal at the last moment. The basket pays the price. Yes, they will all get worn in that area, but I have 40K baskets that look better than some 15k items.

And... yes the tabs. And some after market clutches the tabs are slimmer, reducing the contact area.

Wheelie addicts may make this wear rapidly I would think.

Makes sense. Thank you for the explanation on the cause of wear.

After the wash and a quick steel wool wipe, they all feel pretty flat. Some look more clearly smooth than others.

Nothing exciting, just doing a very labor intensive restore on the LEXAN windscreen. It is cleaning up pretty well actually!

I spent several hours on this and gave up. I think it is as good as it will get.
It is not perfectly clear but for 34 years and sitting outside for much of that NOT BAD!

I got the parts, I do not know how to thank you enough!

Per your request, I found a Christmas charity here in Houston that is in dire straights due to a budget loss. I will be donating to them for toys for needy children.

Hopefully it works out and is in better shape than the one you'd like to replace. This motor has followed me around for a few moves, and I'm not even sure why I have it, so glad that something from it can finally (hopefully) go to good use!

Thank you again, and Merry Christmas to you and yours!

I actually got to ride today, the most I have done on this moto since I got it. I have not really ridden in years, even though I always seem to have a bike to work on. I really like working on vehicles more than riding it seems. Based on today's (slow) ride I think I may be riding more in the future.

While this bike is by no means fast, it really is like I remember from the 80's, lots of fun to ride. I think I have a keeper!

NEED HELP...Does anyone have a stock 86 VF500F tank they can take a few measurements on?
I am trying to mock up a set of stripes for the tank in preparation for painting it. I think I have it close but was hoping a kind soul could help me out.

Hopefully the text shows up large enough to see on this picture....

    Honda tank mock up.jpg
Side view...I used white electrical tape to mock this up. Not sure what to use for the actual stripe.

also for the Honda decal I have found a lot use the centre point of the sticker to go south to a straight line to the 'kink' in the top fairing.

i think your bottom line is curved & the top needs to also be straight. The line should be pin straight. - use a laser line for the masking. Fairly sure its also a decal.

Contact image works & see if they have this set - they post world wide

Yeah the stock stripe is a decal.

If you're going to have a go at making it yourself I'll get you some measurements. I'm away for the next week or so but if no one beats me to it I'll measure mine up for you next week.
