Thanks everyone for the replies, I have all the time in the world for this.
Yeah, I am way off. I had not even had any ale yet, LOL.
Also...that bike went for $3200.oo USD? That is insane. Does BAT get 50% of the sale price? That moto didn't even have the correct RED seat.
Everything is insane these days.
Thanks for the heads up....I just contacted them. I did not see this bike on the web site.
I "may" have a set of tank stripes here Jim. If I do you can have them for the cost of shipping. Im not a 100% sure, id have to check my stuff but wont get to it till Wednesday if you can wait that long.
OK, I made time to look now, so I didnt forget. I have a set here that I never used for my 86 (now sold). I actually have 3 (2 for one side and 1 for the other). I have a set of front fairing stripes too.
All yours for what ever it cost me to ship them from Canada.
PM me if interested and ill see if I can get you a shipping price on Wednesday
wee bit of a stain on the backing paper at the corner on the one im pointing at.
WOW! That would be awesome! I can certainly wait!
PM me your Address & Zip code Jim , then I can get an accurate shipping estimate.
Hell yeah straycat. Jim, whenever you are ready and need any measurements for placement, let me know. I'm gonna hold off snaking the 86 out of it's spot then for now.
Thank you Cap'n. I will take you up on that.
Right now I am working on researching the paint codes for the BLUE section of the tank and fairing and finding no information. The posts I have found say it is not listed at all for the 86 VF500F. Speculation is that it is the "Candy Aleutian Blue" Code # PD127C-U from a V45 or VF700 Interceptor.
Any confirmation on that?
Candy Aleutian Blue
Directly from the caps of Pro Honda Touch Up Paint
Stray has listed the available "equivalents" somewhere.
Ford Sonic Blue is pretty much perfect, I've sprayed it.
here you go
As the Capn' says, the sonic blue pearl form Ford is almost perfect, I've used it few times
That is really helpful, my local auto paint supply really has problems identifying 80's Honda paints. Good to have an alternative domestic color.
Amazingly there was a mix code on the computer for my 1983 Civic, My guy was able to mix it on the spot. Was a very close match also.
I still suck at painting but I am getting better all the time.
YAY! My seat cover just came in and it is really RED. Maybe too red....
Mix codes are on the cans in this thread Jim, your paint supplier should be able to use that with no trouble. they are all recent
PS the seat colour looks right to me.
Thank you for the link!
decals are on the way to Texas
Outstanding! Paypal sent!
Can't wait to see them.
SEAT COVER REPLACEMENT. I forgot how much fun this was. Ugh!
Ugly a$$ seat before...completely crumbling and PINK!
Naked Seat! Had to pry the staples out with a screwdriver and then break them off. Pulled out the stubs with a vice grip. Sharp little buggers. I don't think that is mold on there but I have not died from the fumes yet LOL.
The instructions said to put a plastic bag down before installing the cover. I used a home trash bag. Hope this is correct.
Placed the seat cover on. Very tight fit, no way the clamps are going to hold it in place like the instructions say.
Bake your seat cover in the sun or otherwise, it will go much better....... a pneumatic stapler and a helper would be good too.
Decided that this project was a several day affair. Probably kept me from throwing the seat across the garage. I have it pretty close now, just waiting for the wrinkles to settle down before I do the final stapling.
