Thanks for all of your comments!! I was hoping to get registration done today but what a surprise that the CA dmv messed up on the paperwork so I have to wait till monday.

I have been waiting to put the exhausts on till after registration is done since the bike was bought out of state and it will need verification at the dmv so I prefer to take it there in stock form. If registration works out on monday then first thing Im doing when I get home is fabricating the r1 exhaust to fit.

Wow, that paint turned out great! What part of Sac are you in? We should set up a Sacramento Viffer meetup sometime.

Also, if you don't mind me asking, how many cans of color and clear did you need and about how much did it cost? I have a 6th gen that needs some body work and a respray as well.

Im in the Natomas area but I work in Elk Grove. I really get all over sac. I am definately down to meet up and go for a ride as soon as my bike ready.

I ended up buying one can of paint and one can of clear. I only had to really paint the left and front fairing but I coated the right on also so that the color change wouldnt be dramatic. If I could redo it then I would have bought another can of paint and clear to get a better coat on there. (maybe that will be a winter project)

    Paint looks great. Nice job.

And for the childish side of me:

I don't know how many people I'd share that with, but to each his own.

thanks for sharing your before and after pics. My 3rd gen need a repaint and some minor body work, this really motivates me to get cracking on that.

Well I finally got my registration done!! Now I can start making the bike my own. First thing coming off is the oem license plate bracket and exhausts. Here is the initial mock up of the r1 exhaust. I plan to raise it up to get it as close to the tail as possible and to shorten it about 2 inches. Video comparison to come soon.

Looks much, much better with the cans raised up; that gap was throwing me off. I agree that shortening them would look even better.

Well I got around to shortening it 2 inches last night and it turned out perfectly where I would like it to be. All that is left is to weld it up, sand and paint it all black.

Well my exhaust build just took another direction today. Had a friend go down and is now in need of an exhaust so I'll be donating mine for him to fix his bike. Looks like I'll be going the delkevic route probably.

Bad news, I hope he is ok, what bike was he on? Think I'll be going down the same route myself, but not for a while yet!

Biker Joe- Yeah he is allright, he is an ATGATT type of guy so that saved him. He was on a Honda 919. Are you going to get an r1 like I was doing or the delkevic?

Glad to hear he's ok, probably the Delkevic route, as I don't have the equipment to go fabricating stuff for an exhaust, Delkavic are fairly popular on vfrs, but not the only brand i'd say, the considered the best?

Well the delkevic exhaust finally came in so I got it mounted up and created a rear license plate out of some left of bar stock. All thats left is to wire up some led license plate lights. Heres how she looks:
