According to the plan, I will be pulling into Yellowstone on June 8 and ride around to explore on June 9 until I find other lodging accommodations the night of June 9. I could also spend an extra day. I have some pad in the schedule because after Calgary, I'm not scheduled to meet anyone. Until then I'm trying to stick to the itinerary.

You could use my tent and I could cuddle with the bears. Lolzzz

You are one tough little cookie Anne Marie, doubt I would have ever had the courage or stamina to do this on my own

Check for steam vents before you park the VFR or you'll wake up to it 40' high in a tree. (I saw this on a bear documentary once.)

While driving through Yellowstone, the buffalo tend to come up close. Watch for this.

Well - just heard from Anne Marie. She's stopped in Fargo quickly to put on some layers. It's miserable out. :(

I hope the weather changes for her. Personally, there's nothing worse than setting up and taking down a tent in the wet - then having to unpack soggy wet stuff again at the next destination. Starting to think of some back-up plans for her in the event that Thunderstorms hit (there's a chance forecasted for them today - can't be riding in lightning).

Hope you survive the rain showers and get to meet up with Jeff to dry out. Weather can be real tricky this time of year. Remember, you are always welcome to point that baby southwest and crash at R3. Free room n' board!

Wow!!! What an amazing day...beautiful and freezing and sometimes wet riding! Nothing too terrible. Freezing in Fargo was the worse, but easily remedied. All worth it for this...[IMG]

Birds Hill is a nice campground. I've camped there a couple times. Nice clean and fairly new washroom/shower facilities. And it is fairly close to that massive mosquito ranch called Grand Beach. If you care to check that out. You can walk 1/4 mile out onto the lake on the nicest sand you can imagine, and just be waist deep in the water.

Well .... I guess I'll lead off regarding our little adventure today. :)

After she had some issues with her phone connecting our our cellular networks, we missed our lunch date, so she carried on to pick up some essentials from a variety of stores and explore a little of Winnipeg.

I had a date with my doctor for my annual physical (yay - clean bill of health) and then raced home to deal with a sump-pump that had become disconnected from the pipes and was basically circulating water in the pit - the damn thing sprayed all over me when a fitting blew after repairing the first one. Ugh.

Sooo ... after a quick shower and a change of clothes into my riding gear, I booked it down the highway to Birds Hill Park where Anne Marie is camped. After she got finished getting settled, we decided to grab a bite to eat before starting our scenic ride along the Red River (the weather was really shitty and we got a late start so we skipped doing the Whiteshell).

It wasn't 5 minutes after leaving the campground that we got pulled over by a Ranger Rick for 'speeding'. I'm still curious how he managed to clock us without a radar gun and he only started following us as we turned on to another roadway in the park ... I guess my lead wrist is a bit of a bad influence on poor Anne Marie. At any rate, he asked us for our license (and passport), asked us some question and ran a background check on us. He was rather polite thankfully and then simply asked us to slow down before handing us back our documents. Wish I had snapped a photo with him .... ahhh ... memories.

Hey Anne Marie, remember the time we met and 5 minutes later I was getting you into trouble with the authorities?? :p

At any rate ... we carried on and grabbed a bite at an old drive-in diner called The Half Moon. It's famous here in these parts - over our meal, we managed to get her Sena 20S and my Cardo Packtalk to connect! Yay! We could finally use our intercoms.

I basically took Anne Marie on the same route I did a few weeks back on a beautiful weekend, the trip report in in a separate post on here of that particular night.

Anyways, we took some photos and had a great ride! I also gave her a spare folding knife I had left in my Givi trunk so she'd have a little extra protection. I really wish I had brought a few bits of wood for her to make a fire with in her fire pit via my panniers. We should have gotten her some prior to heading out as the store in the campground closes at 7pm selling wood. :(

Next time - she's staying here. If you're lucky enough to have her passing through your area, be sure to spend some time with her - she's an amazing person and someone is going to be very lucky to have her in their life!
