Must admit if I hoping and looking forward to Kawasaki building and selling the Z900RS, from the below photo if true appears to have the right balance of Classic UJM looks mixed with modern brakes, suspension and no doubt with the mooted Supercharged version...Power... :cool-new:

" Kawasaki will revive the legendary Z900 moniker on an all-new retro-styled nakedbike which might even be supercharged to give it superbike levels of performance.

The firm has recently applied for a trademark on the name Z900RS, and at the same time our sources in Japan revealed that the company was looking to cash in on the recent boom in retro-inspired bikes typified by Yamaha’s "Sport Heritage" machines like the XSR900. The schedule is to have the new bike on sale in two years’ time, but the really tempting element is that it could also be supercharged as part of Kawasaki’s thrust into the realm of forced-induction. That's a really big hammer isn't it, 900cc with a supercharger? The torque would be ridiculous. Killing a butterfly with a hammer.

I am a fan of forced induction. A little over a year ago there was a bit of speculation about this Suzuki. I know the styling might be a little odd but I like the underlying mechanical package and the resulting HP/torque numbers.

But nothing's been heard from or mentioned by Suzuki since they showed this thing over a year ago...

I had a KZ 1000 with a Kerker header back in the day. Retro seems to be the thing these days. Nice.

Have always had a soft spot for the big K with the son of close family friends in the '70s racing on the suicidal Mach IV 750s, especially loved the original KZ1000 Eddie Lawson replica like below and the early fire cracker red GPz1100s. :love-struck:

EL Replica was a cool bike. The KZ 1000 was my first 4 stroke bike, what a difference from the smokers.

Never had a smoker for a street bike or a car... The number of "vehicles" with the liter Kawasaki engine running them speaks well of the UJM inline four banger.

We all use to keep a little container of oil under the seat. And a six pack of pistons in the garage. 4 strokes set you free. lol

I gota say that brings back some great times. I bought a first version IN 1973 Z1 903 in root-beer brown and orange. It didn't stay stock to long though. I like how in that photo it's a good blend of old and new. Gosh it will be fun to see that bike in person. Gee Honda wake up..

Yea so 70s huh. What was fun was I had Pops Yoshimura do the engine, punched out to 957, then head port work, valves, cams, hi comp pistons, all line balanced as the cranks on these had pressed on rods, no rod caps, these had roller bearings, then added frame strengthening bits, Oil cooler, 29 smooth bores, SW shock, can't remember the fork bit I used, then added dual discs, which was a first back then, notice here the calipers are on the back side. Then of coarse the Morris mags. It was quite the bike then, dynod out at 167hp To think today that's nothing by today's standard. But back then that was something. and to think I this gave up for a 79 CBX in 1979 SMH.

Maybe you guys all need to start bombarding Honda U.S.A with emails about what models you would like to see and the same at the dealerships

Unfortunately your big markets seem to be cruiser/ touring type motorcycles for the road with sport road bikes making up only a small percentage of total sales

Honda U.S.A and others will assemble their product line up against vehicle sales figures as to remain competitive in the current market

Ask Loudly and persistently and you may receive

We regularly get overseas new old stock sport bikes arrive here in Aus and New Zealand dealers
Quite often it is American /Canadian models that were not selling (Suzuki is the worst offender in this regard)

And Remember if you can't buy it quite possibly you can build it better from something else (Sebspeed comes to mind) and learn new skills along the way

I had 73 Z1 903 too, with a hooker header. Don't remember too much about it other than it was fast!

I bet you wish you had not gone for the CBX. I knew a few guys that were into drag racing that played with them, 6 pistons did have an allure.

The manufacturers are way ahead of any marketing we think we know aboot. Nobody I know would have any use for a naked bike with a blower. Well, maybe SOW ...
