With a tire that coated in oil how in the world did you manage to keep the rubber side down? Seriously.

I took a look at my VTR1000F which has been sitting quietly in the garage (other chores and other toys demand more time). What did I see? A freakin' K&N oil filter!

Note to self: CHANGE OIL AND FILTER!

Or you could wait for the filter to blow out the oil and all you would need to do is add new filter and oil. Spent oil not an issue. Its all over the road.

P1010087.jpg P1010088.jpg P1010193.jpg P1010194.jpg P1010195.jpg P1010196.jpg Nothing wrong with K+N filter-just the installer using the Nut too much, if it was hand tightened-never would have happened. Like it should have been in the first place. I don't use one however and never will-the nut should only be used to take it off-dummy's. Ask Randy How to install a filter without stripping the drain plug. too! How a simple can install goes so wrong. Perhaps -just go to the dealer for oil changes. I going to change the oil soon-I show you how to do that- take off that carbon canister too and fit a over sized napa platinum-there you go just use my old pics-done perfect. use a strong wood boom handle-I broke a metal one.

You apparently read as well as you write and spell. Although it might have been different in AM's case, if you would have read Big_Panda's post you would have saw and read this statement. Regardless of the installation method used, these K&N filters have a problem.

"When I first bought the bike I thought the previous owner had used the bolt to tighten the filter and cracked it because it was doing the exact same thing, leaking oil from the bolt. After replacing, it was fine for several thousand miles when I replaced the oil filter again. This time I did the oil change and made sure not to tighten using the bolt on the end of the filter knowing it causes problems, however it STILL ended up leaking."

Damn, I ignored my own suggestion...I fed the troll!

K&N failures are on many different forums. After my CBR's slick looked like AM's tire coated in oil that was it for me. I was lucky to keep the rear spinning and was able to save it in a fairly fast 2nd gear turn. I got off the track asap.
