    The Ides of March

Anyone from Ottawa get out riding today? Tomorrow should be a good day to change the oil and burn off the cylinder fogging oil.

The price of the Honda oil at the Ottawa dealership seems to have gone up from around $7.40 to $8.40, though I might have bought the $7.40 bottle at the Pembroke dealer. Anyone notice a sudden big increase in the price?

Been through the Catskills, Adirondacks, and Pennsylvania a couple of times but not yet on my Veefer. Usually do this around mid September when schools back in and before the leaves change colour and the roads get clogged with RV's. The roads, and scenery are some of the best you will find for sure.
My buddy and I are heading to the Dragon for our next September trip.

I would be up for an adirondack trip in Sept. too. My buddy has an white 06 just like mine and will most likely join as well.

I'm waiting a tad longer to fire Pearl up. My garage is packed so I have to retire the snowblower and my winter tires before hauling the bike out. Easter is my target as I expect some snow yet.

You guys change your own oil? My buddy said it's a real pain with the fairings and gets it done at the dealer as it isn't much more expensive to have them do the work.

IMO taking the bike to the dealership and waiting around is a bigger pain. I have modest mechanical skill and I don't find it difficult - if you can remove screws you can do it. The trim clips can be a bit tricky (especially in the cold) but once you get the hang of it they're fine.

The first time through is a challenge as it requires the removal of the fairing and unitl you've done it a couple of times it seems pretty involved but once you get the hang of it, it's no biggie.

Something cheaper in Pembroke??? You sure? I find the prices at Petes tend to be pretty high. They want $140 just to weld on the endcaps to my stock exhaust. Looking at about $100 for them to put on my tires and thats if I take the tires off the bike and bring them in myself. Motosports in Trenton is a great place to have work done. They put on a new chain for me (Rivet style) and it cost me $0. Great guys to deal with. So if anyone is out that way Id recommend going to see Jim or Brian.

Maybe its time for a nice drive out there to get the new tires put on.

    First Ride of 2009

First ride of the 2009 season was today, Saint Patrick's Day.

Afternoon temperature in Deep River area was 4 to 8 degrees C. Some sand and water on the road, ice on the edge in shady sections. Salt dust removed from the bike with a hot water wash after the ride.

Awesome bike, excellent ride. Four months was worth the wait.

Lucky you. My bike is still sitting there in Pembroke while I am in Borden. I plan to drive it this weekend while I am there but wontbe able to bring it back here until I can find a way to Pembroke to get it. Its driving me crazy not being able to drive it in this gorgeous weather. Although next couple days are going to be cool until the weekend. That should help me get through.

I run around making vroom vroom sounds while twisting my wrist. Does that make me weird?

So when do you figure you Tim's on Merivale Rd. boys will be poking your ugly heads out? I pulled my VFR out for my first ride ever last week during the warm snap and I've gotta say I'm in love with this bike! I roostered by last Wed eve just in case some of you had the same ideas I did, but didn't see any VFRs. I figured it to be a little early in the season, but nonetheless, I'm looking forward to meeting all of you!

Ya probably around April 2nd to the 7th that's when I get the bike back from the shop with new tires and HID lighting! Then it's go-time and I'll be at Merivale/Meadowlands(usally around 730 to 830 pm 7 days a week when I can) just in time for the long weekend! I can introduce any VFR owners to the rest of the people who show up there remember I'm on a totally yellowed out 99' 5th Gen VFR!
