Please accept my apology for this error. I hope it didn't interfere with whatever you were going to plug.

Or stopping and walking around for 5 to 10 minutes at reasonable intervals. This is one of the most over-looked and important things to do when riding. It's good for the mind and body when riding all day.

I got it and love it. The slight increase in seat height helps my knees too.

Another option that's worked for me is bicycle shorts under my jeans. It spreads out the pressure more evenly.

Agree also squeezing ones cheeks together whilst on the go helps. Another alternative is a piece of sheepskin strapped to the seat. Haven't used one myself but have a friend who swears by it for longer journeys 500 mile days on motorways.

Anybody that cycles would appreciate the all day comfort of a good pair of bib shorts...I use Assos....pricey but worth it when on a bicycle for 50+ miles....so extremely comfortable under jeans on the VFR also.

Sheepskin seatcovers go way back. Not so much that they are soft or fit the contours of the various buns, more to allowing air to circulate between the riders buns and the seat. Made one for me BMW years ago. I found a seller of sheepskins in Tacoma. Good stock including a choice of colors. The skin was cut to fit and attached with elastic strapping in four places using plastic covered metal attachments purchased at a loft shop. The attaching and sewing was done by a shoe repair.

This can take some experimentation and is not an exact science:

Pitching "Rich's Seats" provides a twofold purpose. A:, he is a perfectionist, owns bikes and is an Ironbutt rider. B:, Heard many times from different quarters asking for folks to support local businesses gives those who do not want cookie cutter seats a opportunity to send some local biz to thier local auto upholsterer.

Yep, local auto upholsterers are not on every corner. This is a fact. Try a regular upholsterer.

Best to check oot Rich's gallery and compare it with the cookie cutter outfits. Like the old Chinese guys always say, "It's your ass".

Agree with you there about the Airhawk - I borrowed one for a tryout and I couldnt get passed the sensation of I crapped in my pants feeling from the thing. -- No thanks for that!

Really? That one got by me..

A seat by Rich is not for everyone. Rich told me one time aboot the harleydood who wanted his seat cover done with the skin of a porcupine.

You know, I had the Corbin seat for the 4th Gen back in 1994 and it was definitely firm and didn't soften at all, *but* it was all-day comfortable because it was supportive. I rode from Long Island to Wisconsin and around the Upper Peninsula through Canada back home and never even thought about the seat, really. As a point of comparison, I have plantar fasciitis and the Superfeet insoles I wear are the same - firm and supportive. They work for me too.

I think it comes down to your anatomy and preference. It may be that "squirm" (sideways motion of the seat padding) is what causes butt burn. Soft or hard, I don't think you want your tush moving around east to west. Just don't be so quick to judge firm seats as uncomfy for the long haul. You may be surprised.

I think you're right on this. The Sargent seat was just as stiff as the stock seat, but offered better weight distribution. I wasn't confident about it until a full day of riding and then more days just piled up without progressively building up soreness.

Before I would buy or modify an existing seat make sure you are very happy with the rest of your riding position. Especially handle bar position and foot pegs. Both of those will change where and how your ass sits in the seat. If you spend 4 to 800 bucks on a seat and then go from factory bars to LSL super bike bars you may have wasted your money on the seat. Men have bony ass's we have no padding and the older we get it disappears even more.

True, so true. Luckily (or not), I was blessed with somewhat more padding than the average dude, but I'm losing that "advantage" as I age :blue:

Never tried a Corbin but I had a Sargent on my 6th gen - that was excellent and I'd seriously consider one for the '14 (front section only, I never carry anyone so Corbin's new effort would disqualify itself for me!).
