When I first got the 8th gen, one of the first things I did was change the oil. The space where the filter lives is very tight compared to the 6th gen I had before. Who ever put the filter on over tightened it, nothing I did made it budge, all the hex tools just slipped, all too sloppy. I drilled a couple of holes in my wrench, and used self tapping screws to lock the wrench on the filter, bingo, came right off. No room to swing anything else or stick a screw driver in it.

I had to use the screwdriver method on my bike for first oil change as well, and during the whole miserable operation I also dreamed up a solution sort of like yours. I was thinking of something with 4 captive screws on it that have big wingnuts on them. You'd slip it over the filter end, then dig the screws in and use the wingnuts to get them a couple mm down into the filter body, then ratchet or wrench off.

Happened to me about two oil changes ago, my oil cap wrench kept skipping on the filter. Got a dermal and cut two slits in the oil cup wrench, hose clamped it tight and got the little bastard off.
I never over tighten it so don't know what the hell.

    It works for me!

I love the feel, when you grab that old filter and turn with all your strength and you feel it just start to move. It is an Ahh moment!

Look who is complaining about posting dribble! Coming from someone that makes inane posts, then is the only one who replies to them just to rack up posts.

According to the book the filter is supposed to be torqued to 24ftpds. That seems like a recipe for a stuck oil filter.

I think the torque value in the manual is dictated by engineers who had to write the manual. Every one I knows uses the time honored practice of hand tightening, then a 1/4 to half turn.

It is not like they will rattle loose and the tension is only to nip the "O" ring up to stop it leaking

Your PCP or a Urologist can take care of that dribble.

Gonorrhea can be treated with antibiotics such as ceftriaxone, azithromycin, and doxycycline. Standard stuff and info from the CDC
