Check this ebay page for the quickest way to lower your VFR: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=240622 6028&category=35592. You are just changing the shock geometry; no cutting or mangling required. I jacked my '98 up by using the link from a CBR 600; got 40mm of height added to the seat.

I just copied this from another thread.

How does the longer link affect the stress on other components?

I'm also interested in the VFR800 2003 model but I'm only 5'5" w/ 29" inseam. I would like to get at least one foot flat on the ground.

Currently ride a BMW F650GS (w/ extra low seat) and I can flat foot on one side.

May I know what choice there are to lower the bike? I'm thinking of shaving the seat but from looking at the pictures of the bike, the seat looks too thin already.

If you have good suggestion, pls email me if its ok. Thanks so much guys!

Check this website for lowering links:

Sargent Cycle can modify your stock seat by shaving the foam and adding a center gel insert; usually good for another 1" drop. Here's their link:
