    There are rumours in Oz MCN that the new CB1000R will be released this November
    Apparently it is based on this prototype with very small changes.
    Looks good to me.

    if they don't screw it up and just put a plate holder and turn signals on it, it will be a seller.

    I'm not a naked bike (or I4 engine) kind of guy but I wouldn't mind having one of those prototypes! That floats my boat much better than a Motus and it looks way better than the last gen CB1000R! I might go dual headlight though... :D

    I'm glad they ditched the old rear wheel, it was hideous.
    Rumors here are that it will have minimal changes.
    Muffler will be different, as well as headlight. it will alkso have a number plate hanger, blinkers and mirrors added.
    November 6 is the launch date.

    "meh"

    FZ-09 looks better, as it's 900 triple is probably more fun. S1000R is probably faster, and has a better electronics loadout. The naked Gixxer is about the same 'meh' factor.

    Then again, I sold my naked bike. Didn't care for it.

    I liked the outgoing CB1000R except for two things: The wheels were fugly as all hell; and Honda severely neutered the CB-RR motor to the point that it lost 30 rwhp! WTF Honda!

    I can never understand why they feel the need to cut power when they're using a previous generation motor. They claim they do this to give owners more midrange torque.....why on Earth would it need more? It's a literbike! It already had tons of midrange before. ???

    The outgoing 2016 CBR1000rr put out 150 rwhp (not the SP model). This next iteration of the CB1000r would most likely source its motor from this bike. So Honda, please! Give us the 150 rwhp. If this new CB comes in with 125 rwhp, I guarantee it will not sell well at all, just like the outgoing CB1000r. In fact Honda, please do this: take the existing 2016 CBR1000rr as is, replace the fairings with a racy naked arrangement, a single sided swingarm, and be done with it. Keep all the great suspension bits like the BP fork and shocks. This isn't too much to ask since the bike is 95% there already!

    Well ok then. 143 hp means 125 rwhp or so?? MMmmmmm......We shall see. But I already like the way it looks. And Yes I drink the Honda (and Suzuki) cool aid quite regularly.

    BMWS1000r = 160 rwhp
    Yamaha FZ01 = 150 rwhp???
    Suzuki GSX-F = 135 rwhp.
