Hey Marrib. Don't worry about the language - the French are very easy going and most learn English at school. However the Alps are a vast mountain range so you will struggle to cover it all from one base. Munich might work for the Central section but exploring the further reaches will involve overnight stops. If you are interested in visiting the Western Alps then let me know if you are looking for accommodation. I have a couple of places in Chatel where I live (clubchatel.com and lifford-cooke-com) and depending on dates could probably offer somewhere cheap to stay. If you want I could also arrange to join you and show you some of my favourite routes. Chatel is 2 hours ride from Geneva Airport and is a major winter ski resort in France, and in summer becomes a regular bikers stop-over on the Grande Routes des Alpes. There are some stunning biking roads in this area and you can easily do day trips into Italy and Switzerland via the Morgins Pass and the St Bernard Pass and returning from Italy via the road across the Lac de Roseland barrage and Chamonix valley. If you are happy with really long days you could even try an enormous loop via the Mont Blanc Tunnel returning through Mon Cenis Pass and the Col de Iseran Pass - truly stunning roads. The second website has a heap of motorbike touring info including links to videos, route plans and places to hire bikes etc, which should give you a few ideas. SkiMad4x4 - 6th gen militia #218
