    Hello,

So this morning I decided to purchase a 99 vfr800 in red over a cbr600f4i as a last minute decision, and will hopefully be collecting the beauty this weekend. I thought I'd better join a forum straight away as that's generally where all the knowledge lies. I hope to learn a lot about the magnificent v4 and have a lot of fun in the process. There's a couple of things I'd like to change about it from the test drive, such as changing the aftermarket exhaust to sit higher and fitting clip ons with less or no raise if that's possible to suit how I like to sit. Otherwise, I just want to make sure to deal with any issues and restore her to the best condition I can.

That's probably enough for a first time poster who usually lurks on forums rather than posting.

    Dan

You know of course, we can't give you any good advice until pictures are posted, lol.

A short list to get you started........
Check stator and R/R wiring, including at starter relay. Read The Drill....
    https://vfrworld.com/threads/the-drill.52131/

Change all fluids unless you know the maintenance history, e.g., coolant. Flush/bleed the brakes and clutch anyway.

Check sync of starter valves, the proper way.... it does make a difference...

Indeed, although a fair bit further north in the land of the Peak if your location is correct(ish). Picking the bike up on Thursday so i'll post pics then. Hoping for a sunny day as it's a nice hour on mostly country roads back to my house.

Nice avatar pic. Black is very cool.

Couple of not great pics of the bike in the stable after riding it home. I'll get some better ones when I go out next.

I have to say what a joyous ride home. The day, the bike, the weather, the roads and so on. An hour and a half in the saddle with not a single ache. And finally, what a Noise!!!

Bite your tongue NOISE! It's not a Harley! Symphony sounds more like it. Glad you have the bike home. Sort out the few electrical issues and the bike will be bullet proof C'est Magnifique!

Welsome aboard Rodin. You've made a great decision, the CBR would have been a fine bike but the VFR is just that bit more special. I thought red was the fastest colour when I had one, but now I realize that you just can't beat yellow...

Congrats. Red is in fact quite quick. But the white ones are so fast, it wears the paint off. I have had to re-paint mine two times since getting it new. My Gawd! WHITE is the colour of MIGHT when it comes to the VFR
