    Hi Everyone,

    I recently purchased a 2014 VFR800 Deluxe and I'm planning some modifications.
I wanna ask you guys since I don't have time to read all the post from years back.

    1. My bike currently has a Akrapovic slip on. Which full header can I purchase that would work for this can?
    2. Is there any Aux Power Port on the bike. [Extra wire [not used ]that gets powered on when the bike is on]
    3. Can this model VFR be ECU Flashed? If it does, what does most people do with it?
    4. If I need to upgrade the forks, what's my best options. I'm 240LBS for reference.
    5. What type of rear sprocket does it use?
    6. Where can I get keys cut [preferably locally NYC] but I'm willing to travel up to 200 miles
    7. What are the best options for additional lights. My XSR900, I installed 2 Diode Dynamics SS2Pro.
    8. Has anyone ever fitted a Slipper Clutch system?
That's all I can think of for now.
I'll add more later if I remember more questions.
    Thank you

    Congrats!

Do you normally drop into rooms of people you don't know, assign time consuming research work that you don't want to do, then wait for the minions to answer? lol

I know nothing of the 2014. Enjoy it!

Thank you. She's definitely much better for touring than my previous bike.
Fortunately I arrived really fashionably late so I'm assuming all the research and heavy lifting should've been complete.
I find that people in forums are generally very helpful and want other people to enjoy their bike.
As such, I'm also planning on sharing my own "potential" mods if they work out.
Either installing a light bar under the radiator or placing a Morimoto 4 Banger behind the forks.
I was using a Samsung 10 inch tablet as my dash using DMD2, I've yet to check if it also works on the bike.

Ractech make some good parts for the forks; the stock spring rate looks pretty low (0.67kg/mm) for your weight, so at the very least a set of suitable springs would make quite a difference, and you can go down the Gold Valve rabbit hole if you want to change the damping characteristics more than the rebound needles will offer. I've used their parts in my 5G, as well as my ST1300 and VTR1000F.

I can also say that the '00 has the RaceTech kit and the '98 has Thermosman magic...and there's nothing like magic.

So what's the difference? I ike the RT valve bodies because they have a bigger port area than stock so tend to offer less inherent flow resistance; that leaves one free to tinker with the shim stacks to make them softer or firmer to suit. In my experience the RT base shim recommendations are on the firmer side for my tastes.

    Thank you.
I know nothing about suspension. All I can say now is that when I'm on a corner and I brake, the bike stands up abruptly.
I'm getting my suspension set next week, I'll ask the tech if I should upgrade any component and will buy according to his recomendation.

    Thanks,

I'm not sure what's in there, but the T-man front end is miles better than the RT front end, done by a different suspension pro. I wish I had just sent them to Mike...

If you want decent suspension, set for you, go to a suspension guy, not a motorcycle tech (not sure if that is what you meant). There are plenty of good ones out there. There's no location in your profile, so I'm not sure what part of the U.S. you're in. Thermosman is in GA, FYI.

Not to put too fine a point on it, but it sounds like a braking technique issue, primarily. Do you have any pics of near end of life front tires you've used? Are you familiar with trail braking? (I'm not picking on you...I'm genuinely curious and want us all to be safe!)

Odd that nobody has mentioned the rear shock

    Answer to No. 3
Never heard of an 8gen ECM being re-flashed!

    Answer to No. 5
Strange question! Standard OEM rear sprocket is steel 43 tooth to suit a 525 Chain!

    Answer to No. 8
Nop, never heard of a slipper clutch being fitted to an 8gen. 3 & 8 I guess anything is possible though!

    Answer to No.2
Yes there is an accessory power source available from this plug, designed for an alarm system but you can use it for whatever, just be aware of the load you might be adding to this circuit it is only protected by the 10amp ACC Fuse, and Heated Grips are also powered from this Fuse. see attached
    - The Black/Yellow is Switched via Ignition Switch to the ACC 10amp fuse.
    - The Red/Green is Un Switched via the Clock/Haz 10amp Fuse.
    - Green wire is Ground.
    - Pink wire is for Alarm use for all turn signal lights to flash.

I am going to Washington Cycle Works in NJ, they set my suspension on my XSR900.
My cornering technique for the street is run wide till the exit is in sight then cut the corner. [Train brake if needed, usually not]
I can do any awkward braking on that bike [mainly what happened above] emergency mid brake.
The rider in front of me was super slow in the corner so I had to adjust abruptly.
On my XSR900, 2 people crashed right in front of me [about 2 bike lengths away in the twisties] and I was able to stop without reaching them.
As for the tires, I use em till they're bald. The VFR still has a lot of meat, maybe 30% used

Maybe the rear is good. I mean it even has a remote adjustment which most bikes don't have.

It looked like a different sprocket to me, the hole seemed to be larger than standard rear sprocket.

My XSR900 had it and it saved me multiple times specially when I accidentally double downshift.

Thanks, I'm mainly planning to use it as a source for a Healtech Thunderbox Power Distribution unit.
I will plug all the accessories I'm planning on adding through there. I don't want to touch the wiring harness directly.

    Thanks
