Hope you don't mind some questions. Where did you get the tail bag and is it made specifically for the VFR? I looked online and and couldn't find any available. Some places had it listed but were all out of stock. Second, how much drop did you get with the pegs and, again, where did you get them? I have a 2010 that I rode for the first time this week and lower pegs/higher bars would go a long way to making me comfortable. Thanks for any info. Sheldon in Maryland
No problem at all! The bag was about $140 and I found one of very few in stock on Amazon. There seemed to be more of the black or carbon fiber look versions around though, which should look good with your 2010. Yamaha must have bought and resold some of these because mine was advertised as a Yamaha tail bag but is the Axio bag, no Yamaha labels or anything. I don't know if Axio quit importing them or what, but there aren't many around. It appears you can still order and ship to the US from their website though. The pegs came from Knight Designs, http://www.knightdesignllc.com/Products/Motorcycle/Honda/VFR/Honda_VFR1200F_Foot_Pegs.html They lower the pegs about 1 3/8 " ..about as low as the feelers on the stock pegs. I got the more aggressive design tread and honestly cant imagine buying the other after using these. Very pleased, and Knight was great to do business with. I thought I wanted higher bars, but after lowering the pegs and putting some miles on the bike I really don't want to now. The bike is no problem for me to ride all day now, about 500 miles is the most I have done in a day so far. I'm 6'2 205lbs for comparison.
Thanks for the info. It looks like AXIO isn't making the tail bag anymore, from what I've seen. Several places have it listed but nobody has them in stock. In anything but blue, that is. I have a CORTECH bag that works okay but doesnt look nearly as cool as the AXIO. I've spent a few days on my VFR now and love it, even though it's not as easy to ride smooth as my old V65 Sabre. I'm willing to attribute some of that feeling to the fact I've been on the Sabre since 1986 and it's pretty much a part of me. The VFR is a different animal altogether.
It only gets better, I put a little over 500 miles on mine last Saturday on my longest ride to date. I rode the "Back of the Dragon" http://backofthedragon.com/ and "The Snake" http://www.421thesnake.com/ along with a few other favorites of mine. I was a long day but perfect weather and I had a blast on the bike. It seems to have smoothed out quite a bit with +/- 3000 miles on it now. Fuel mileage is better, and totally dependent on riding style. I have gotten as little as 120 miles on a tank and as much as almost 200. I would like to have another half a gallon, but it isn't the issue to me that it has been to others.
