^^ looks like you would need to. I think once the plate is on the aluminum will be less of an eye sore. Reflectors..bleh. You won't care in 2 weeks. :)

Probably, the whole gadget is ill-conceived.

Whoever used this OEM mount last had their plate zip tied on.

The 2 holes that someone drilled on the aluminum to mount their plate aren't even level and they dont line up with the Ontario plates. The bike came out of Quebec last year, so its possible they have a slightly different sized plate or hole spacing (distance apart)

If it's been modified, then I would be fabricating a proper one.

What goes in the lower 2 holes above the rear reflector? I think there is a piece missing. Like the actual plate mount.

I assume the euro plate mounts use the narrower top & bottom holes. Any Canadian bikes I can find online look like mine, but .....who knows

I do have the other OEM "Licence Fitting" plastic plate, the mounts to this, thats supposed to be an adapter for various country's plates, but it still doesnt fit Ontario plates

I may have to Fab up a new bracket to nicely mount a plate when I get to that point.

I say keep it OEM..... I think the reflectors look OK, front rectangular is normal on some bikes, although those look a tad longer than the standard ones. For the plate, I think I would look for a black licence plate frame slightly larger than the plate, maybe you got one in your collection..... it would cover a bit more of the light aluminum, and would give a finished look to the plate.

So not wanting to upset the VFR community by starting yet another non VFR thread, im amending this one.

After owning it for 3 years, I finally got the 2003 Z1000 on the road today, its basically new with only 2,600km on it. I put some new tires on it, The OEM tires were like new but hard as nails. Went for my first ride and OMG, what a weapon. This bike is stupid stupid fast. It handles like a dream, but Jeezis its quick.

Yeah. That is one of the coolest "standard" bikes out there. Just enough personality without being Japanese anime. The red accents work really well.

Ive wanted one since they first came out in 2003, but I really wanted the orange. When this one came available in 2019, with only 2,600km on it I had to snap it up, they just dont show up with those km and zero mod's. Most have the quad pipes removed or chopped , and to me those are one of the distinguishing cool features of the bike.

The only blemishes on mine are 2 rubs on the grey side panels, they came courtesy of the shipper that transported it across Canada (came from Manitoba). they put a strap around the middle of the bike up and over the seat and it chafed the gray finish off. I have a cleaner set I scored off Ebay , but havent put them on yet.

I really like the quads. Super awesome!! I can't believe it is an '03. :) You are THE COLLECTOR!! Actually it would seem most of you guys on here are collectors with some of the bikes we have discussed or displayed.

I keep 3 or 4 on the road at once, so then I can more easily decide as they typically all different styles of bike.

The Africa Twin gets the most miles, its the most comfortable and easiest so ride

Today the weather was shyte yet again (no idea how im gonna get my hay done this year if this keeps up), so It was "run the old bikes " day, for machines that are not on the road I keep a run log and a fuel change log to keep everything running properly. I run them long enough to heat cycle them.

Today was the CB1, the Hawk GT and this little beauty as well
