Let me start out by saying that money is a huge factor here. I have two months of school left this year with bills to pay, so I can't afford to drop $120 plus on pants at the moment.

That said, it's time to replace my Alpinestars Airflow pants. They are great pants in excellent shape, but I have lifted enough that they just don't fit my legs anymore. I eventually want to get some nice all-season textile pants, but thats just not in the budget right now. I have narrowed the search down to 2 pants, both are abrasion resistant and durable, and I have armor to put underneath them.

Cortech by Tour Master CPX Textile Cargo Pants :: MotorcycleGear.com

    or

Men's Work Pants - Fire Hose Work Pants - Duluth Trading Company

I might catch some flack for considering a pair of work pants as my everydays, but I think they would do a serviceable job with my knee/shin armor underneath.

    Any thoughts gentlemen?

I have the cortech in khaki and love them. I keep meaning to buy another pair. Heavier than denim, a little bit of padding in the knees and hips (not much), and they look nice. I wear them to work whenever I ride in. I never thought I would own zip off pants but they do come in handy when I need to go work in the warehouse.

I don't think you will regret them. They are great for the price.

im sure you have seen the webbikeworld.com writeup on the FH pants
santa left me a giftcard from duluth for xmas last year. i got 2 pair of FH.
the regular FH jean, and a pair of the lined FH jean for cooler temps.
high quality, and a full lifetime no questions asked guarantee.
they are great everyday riders, esp if you are using armour underneath.

for more ATGATT, i wear fieldsheer vented 4-season pants.
good material, good venting, hard armour, silver hi-viz, great bang per $
    about $100 from motorcyclecloseouts.com
i wear them for touring, sporting, and any other time i want more ATGATT.

PS- compared to the FH pants from duluth trading which are around $50-60
the dickies from wally are around $20, and compare pretty well IMHO.
wally stocks them to compete and undercut carhartts.

I have read the WBW review, and that is a major reason why I am looking at the Duluth pants. I really like the "No Bull" guarantee too. $50 bucks for unlimited pants (if they every wear out) is a nice thought. The firehose material looks very solid...how cool is it on a hot day when on the bike?

Um, I'm optional on pants. I mean I wear them every day, but I take em off and go to shorts when I'm home, and take em off totally when I go to bed or when the wife's in the mood... :stripper::party2:

(Sorry, I know you're asking a serious question, but I couldn't help myself.)

But how often could you say that your fire hose is sounded by fire hose?

So I ran by Wally World and had a look at some $20 Dickies duck carpenter pants. They looked solid (for 20 bucks), but the one-size-fits-all cut of the pants didn't impress me. I'll keep shopping around town for some Carharts or similar pants to see if I can save a bit of money over ordering the Duluths.

I haven't ruled out the Cortechs quite yet, but all of the reviews that I have read say that they are a bit warm, which kind of turns me away.

What about the new alpine star jeans with kevlar inserts for $100.

More expensive but great considering kevlar jeans in AUS cost $200+
