    What are ya'll using?

    This would be for an '87 VFR700.....and a '90 VFR750.

The '83 VF750 has a center stand so I'm all set there.

    Thanks for any help!

I can't comment on anything to suit the SSA on the 1990, but I've used a few conventional swingarm stands over the years. I currently keep my MT-10 happily suspended using a front and rear stand, and these make for easy wheel or fork removal. My swingarm stand came with both the forks (fitted) and an alternative set of flat, rubber-covered lift pads which would be needed if the swingarm had no bobbins fitted.

Well, for my 92 and 95 VFR and 88 Hawk, the Pit Bull has been perfect. The 87... I have a couple standard swingarm stand made by an old local race team that have been great over the years. The VFR has a hollow axle if you wanna run some all-thread thru it for some slotted adapters and a fork attachment style stand. But it has a nice rectangular swingarm that gives a nice solid spot for the standard style.

Anything serious, front or rear, it's going up on my Handy Lift.

OK thanks for the input and tips so far, guys....really appreciate it!

I wish there was an information guide on this subject somewhere for our bikes. I've spent quite a bit of time beating the Internet bushes looking for any tips and there just doesn't seem to be any. Even older forum posts/threads. Pretty much zip.

I hear ya about the Pit Bull stands but holy cow they are a bit pricey! I know you get what you pay for but not really sure a less expensive version wouldn't suit my purposes either.

I didn't realize I had hollow axles on the 700, Captain. Will have to take a closer look and figure something out.

I like the idea of using the Swingarm Spools where possible so will have to verify thread size for those.

What about the triple tree setup vs fork for the front? Any thoughts there - either in general or specific for my models?

    Thanks again!

The front stands usually come with a range of pin sizes to match the hole in the steering stem.

On the Pit Bull front, you can buy them in a few configurations. I highly recommend the one that allows under fork use and pin use. I use them both all of the time.

+4 on the Pit Bull. Their TRS system is an excellent way to transport a bike. They have the best customer service of any company on the planet!

If they don't fit, just chuck in on the lathe.

Hey everyone......thanks for all the input on my inquiry!

Just to let you know I ended up getting a pair from Amazon for $78. They are now on sale for $62, of course.....

    Link: Vevor

They arrived today and I was able to assemble them in about 15 minutes. I already used one on the rear of my '87 on my HF lift table so I could service the chain. It worked perfectly - just what I needed!

I'm sure the PB's are better than what I got but I couldn't figure out how the extra cost would help me and needed to get something ASAP so for under $100 I just went for it.

I haven't tried to use the fronts yet but I imagine they too will be OK.

Thank you again for the help! :)

Well I finally got a rear stand for my single swing arm RC36 from FB MP. It came with two pins....one is stamped D and the other is stamped DR.

It came with the DR pin installed, as shown.

These two pins are for a Ducati so I had to order the "H" pin for my Honda from Pit Bull and it's on the way.

I asked the seller how to remove the pin and he said to take the one in the holder and set it against it and use a hammer to pop it out.

I haven't touched anything yet and was going to ask Pit Bull about this but thought I'd ask the brain trust first.

In looking at the Pit Bull tutorials...it appears these pins are held in place by that ring and set screw. If that's the case...why would I have to pound this one out with a hammer?

    Any input would be welcome.

    Thanks!

Sorry for the blurry pics.....twilight here not kind to resolution.....

They can get grody, like anything, or corroded. Also, Woodcraft now makes these also.

Just wondering if that ring is what is supposed to hold the pin in place........why isn't it holding this pin in place?

This is the stand for my '98. Not sure if they're the same.

    Thanks, bmart!

I just got off the phone with George at Pitt Bull and he said what may have happened here is the pin started coming out while still engaged with the bike and the bearings may have been slightly tweaked.

I'm going to go ahead and get that pin out and then see if the other one goes into the arm OK. If it doesn't I may have to (per advice from George) lightly tap around the edges of the bearing(s) to re-align it.

Something else he mentioned. Those collars went up in price so much they went to a different locking system. The new ones all use a type of pin (like a hairpin I guess) that holds them in place. George said it's actually an improvement in the operation of the device.

I will post again as appropriate.

My new pin should arrive soon!

    Cheers, all! :)

    Update.......

New Honda pin arrived just as I was driving out the Duc pin. I used this punch from my tool box rather than the other pin. Worked just fine...

    IMG_4353.JPG

Apparently both of the Duc pins that came with the stand only pass through one side easily and not the other. I used a small wire brush on my impact wrench to clean up the inner part of the bearing thinking that was the problem....but it didn't help.

    IMG_4352.JPG

Then I inserted the new pin and it went right through without any issues!

    IMG_4350.JPG IMG_4351.JPG

So guess I'm set. Note the new clip method to secure the pin - those are called hitch pins.

The only question that remains is why neither of the Duc pins will slid through the far end of the hub and my new one does. Defective Duc pins? Seems a little odd.....
