3 parts isopropyl alcohol to 1 part oil. Soak as needed. Don't think you should boil this concoction. I haven't or read about doing it. Could be wrong of course.

Boiling in water is a separate method for immediate softening and installation. It is temporary. I have done this as well, or at least VERY hot water soak, and then used a heat gun to help maintain the temp right up to carb install.

I do not have personal comparison experience to relate. I would expect the alcohol thins the oil without wanting to separate so the portion of oil is appropriate for the job and there is enough volume to submerse the piece(s). Real Wintergreen Oil is very concentrated/strong and expensive. Also, the last time I checked, oil and water still did not mix.

I just know that all of the posts of vintage guys that use the oil do the alcohol ratio mix and soak. And I have done it and it is borderline witchcraft.

Unrelated story... right after doing it the first time, our yard was overrun with ravens, crows, black cats and snakes. Dismissed as... coincidence.

md rant, one of the very few....
Concerning PZ again..... Usually between PZ and RA, PZ is quicker to get something in hand and I ordered 2 small parts early August to get them in the quickest.
You can even pay a few more dollars to get them to expedite sooner.. Did that. Following the order, I showed then they had possession of the parts and were shipped.
UPS follow up report kept reading that the lable was created, but they dont have physical possession of the parts. Emailed and called PZ several times, no resolution.
Did more.. finally they offer refund for less money than was the full value of the order.. F them. So, I burned a whole month working to get these stupid parts.
I tried to leave a 1 star review on their website..... only to discover the app they use only allows 5 star reviews...
    --Never again..

:( That's gotta be very frustrating, MD.

It's almost like you have to make your purchases a year out in order to ensure arrival on time!

Please keep us posted on how it all turns out......and good luck, brother!
