My '03 came with a Power Commander III installed to go with the aftermarket mufflers it had.
I put stock mufflers on (I leave for work at 5:30am sometimes) and removed the Power Commander.
Now that I'm five or six thousand miles down the road with the bike, I still am none too happy with the low-opening throttle snatch.
I'm not too deep into Power Commander lore and doings, but might it be a way to reduce the lurching?
I am also in line for a slow-ratio throttle tube, if milling the stock one doesn't work; it has for me on some other bikes.
    Thanks
    Bill

The Power Commander helped with the abrupt low speed throttle response on my '99.

before you go down the Power Commander rabbit hole, I've heard a rumor that you can "soft-reset" the map, by thumbing the starter, immediately after turning the key to the "ON" position. do NOT wait for the fuel pump to cycle. use two hands and turn the key with the left hand, and immediately start the bike. This has cured similar mapping problems- and hopefully it helps. Let us know how it goes....

Well, the point's been mooted. I wound up getting a Blackbird to replace the 6thG and it was sold.
Still have my 5thG, though. Less snatchy, too.
