Go With The Staintune...... I Have The High Mount On My 98 And It Sounds Awesome. I Run With The Baffle Out All The Time. Cruisers That Ride Behind Me Remark How Nice The Pipe Sounds, Especially When I Get On It. At 6 To 8m Rpm It Sounds Like A Small V/8. The Inline Four Cylinder Bikes Can Not Compare In Sound. That's Just My Opinion And It's Free. I've Had The Staintune For Three Years Now And Would Not Change. Best Decision I Made. The Quality And Workmanship Are Excellent.

If it's stainless, it'll end up on a shelf in the garage just like the V&H that was on my bike. Just too raspy and painful sounding.

Amen to that. V&H=Good Cruiser Exhaust, Annoying Sportbike Exhaust. Same goes for D&D. I hate D&D exhaust systems.

That's why I haven't sold my V&H yet. I can't, in good conscious, allow another VFR to sound that bad.

It's no different than the previous years (for a slip-on, at least).
I put a slip-on from these guys (http://www.holeshot.com/) last week and am quite impressed with the sound and looks.
It weighs 4.5 lbs versus 11.6 lbs for the stock pipe.

No offense but that looks like a scooter exhaust. I had an Aprilia SR50 pit scooter with a Leo Vince pipe that looked way too similar to that. Just my opinion and my lawyer will send a full disclaimer to my opinion upon request.

I'm somewhat biased, but I loved my Akrapovic (as pictured above by Dan)! It's quiet when tooting around, but when you open it up it sounds awesome. A friend of mine described it as a drunkin sailor ripping by ;)

Anyway, I still have the pipe from my dearly departed bike... Drop me a line if you're interested, I'm looking for $350 for it.

    I'm going with staintune

I was in California last week and bought the low mount staintune from a dealership there for 549.00 US + 30.00 shipping to where I live Calgary Alberta. It was cheaper to have it shipped than pay the 45.00 state tax I would have been charged if I took it with me! I've got a green Y2K as well ...

i just got quoted $549 for the high mount plus $45 shipping, seems strange that the high and low mount would be the same price, i am also going to go with the dark smoke dubble bubble and i got a couple of sweet decals, as soon as i get the looks complete i will put a picture on the board, love the Green, don't just love it!!

In case anyone wasn't sure: I can confirm the Vance & Hines slip-on is not good. Loud as hell and raspy. I thought maybe it needed repacking so I opened it up but it was still packed tight. Hmmm, ok. I guess it's suppose to sound like crap.

    Mine's carbon.
