About 3600 miles so far. Just packed up and about to leave Bowman Montana for Winnipeg Manitoba. Skies are cloudy, may hit some light rain but not the ominous clouds of yesterday. Those had me a bit worried yesterday.

Might be a good place to make camp on day one or two. I'll start looking at some maps and see who is in.

We could always do a repeat of that scorching hot Cali tour we did last year. We will just skip the part where we all get lost in Bakersfield trying to meet up at In and Out. Let's pick something that there is only one of next time.

Turns out I was in Bowman ND not MOntana. ANyways, I made it to Winnipeg Manitoba around 9PM local time to a friend's place. Cleaned my face shield at a gas stop and by time I got to Winnipeg 2 1/2 hours later, I could barely see out the visor the bugs were so bad. Bug guts on the front of the bike were nothing short of nasty. Saturated the front of the bike with bug remover, the wheels with wheel cleaner and the chain with engine degreeser and pressure washed all that crap away. Bike looks nice and clean as it usually is. Spent the weekend thus far OUT OF THE SADDLE. My ass feels like I participates in a session of S&M where I was spanked by a dozen peeps.

    Let the flaming begin!

Randy I still have you beat on mileage. I've got 4800 miles so far and one new rear tire cause the old one (which was at start) was worn down to steel cord showing. I've got at least 3000 miles to go. I hope the soft Dunlop
Q3 holds out. Lost my 2nd throttle paddle thingy, damn.

So. Here's the scoop. I made it to Winnipeg finally and visited all my family but yesterday, when I stopped for gas, the bike would not start. Sounded like the battery was dead. I managed to get it push started on my own and nursed it all across Winnipeg to where I was staying.

The ABS light was blinking constantly and consistently. But the bike kept running fine. Arrived at the parkade where I was parked and noticed that the headlights were out yet the marker lights were on. I hit the high beams and they came on without the lows. Switched back to lows and all but the marker lights went out. Toe suggested I check the wiring for the starter but I have no tools suitable for doing repairs on the run. Tried shutting the bike down and start it up again. Fired up fine and everything worked as expected so shut it down for the night.

This morning I was to leave Winnipeg for my return home. Bike started fine. Rode 2 hours to Brandon Manitoba. Soon into the ride, the ABS light started flashing again. Bike ran fine all the way to Brandon but would not start again after gassing up. Push started it again and continued on. Next stop was another 2 hours down the road. Same thing all over again. Flashing ABS light and push start.

Ominous clouds and lightning started forming around me again in Saskatchewan so pulled into small hick town about 10 miles east of Indian head. Bike stalled there and could not get it push started this time. Roads were gravel so did not have the best of traction with my feet pushing, not great traction on the rear wheel, so it never started. Waited around there for about 1/2 hour before someone finally drove down the road and stopped as I waved. Old man got out and tried to push start me to no avail. He banged on the door of a nearby house and another guy came out with battery charger and meter. Battery read 13+ volts but would not start. Between the three of us, we were able to get it rolling fast enough to push start the bike, so off I go to Regina.

Arrived at the RCMP Training Academy and got a room there for the night. While I was booking in, I left the bike running outside. As I came out it sounded like it was about to stall. Even though the bike was running, the RPM registered o but was really revving at about 900 rpm. Touched the throttle and the RPM reading jumped up to 1200. But the bike was still wanting to stall out on me. Drove it around the academy for 10 minutes or so and the performance started to improve but soon as I let it idle, it wanted to stall out on me again. Found myself a parking spot and shut it down.

Tomorrow morning I should be able to find a couple recruits to push start me and get it into the local Honda Dealer here in Regina to have a look at it. Hopefully they can get it in right away, and hopefully if it needs parts, they have them on hand. But this is Regina Saskatchewan so you never know. Wish me luck.

Best of luck Randy, hope all works out and you get home on the 2 wheels you left with.
It would make a good Honda commercial down the road to have your bike turn 200K KM's and you being presented with a brand new 2014. Wonder if Mr. Honda would go for that??????
