There's the argument that K&Ns do flow more air vs stockish type, but then allow more particles/dirt into the engine.
    For me....I'm not picking sides....

From what I see the stock unit filters better but it doesn’t provide the better airflow at high rpm. I’m not usually up in the rev zone so I go for the filtration.
Also my engines ( except my CBX ) are stock so again high flow at high rpm is not important to me.

    I’m not disparaging the K and N … fine product .
Just personal preference for my riding style.

I've found no actual proof that they let in small particles that damage anything, just Internet heresay.

I've found plenty of dyno sheets that show increased power.

I also like that I'll never have to replace them, just service them on occassion.

    There ya go …

I was also thinking that with more air you may need more fuel … re-jetting may be needed or maybe not.
Something to check if you go High Flow .

I do. I've also run their filters on my Subarus for many hundreds of thousands of miles without any ill effect.

Just don't over-oil them. That oil can them migrate further into the system.

I don't use K&N under the illusion of any power gains. I use them pretty much because they are serviceable and I have a lot of bikes.

I am also not worried about the potential allowance of more "dirt" as I don't live at the bottom of a strip mine or end a 2 mile dirt road.

I don't see shit in my air box base, carbs or feel like I'm seeing accelerated wear anywhere.

Stock Honda filters are very good. Emgo and HiFlo are probably pretty darn good too.

Thanks, Capt. I'm kinda in the same situation as you. I already have on hand a fairly good supply of the HiFlo's, so will probably use those as needed and hang onto this K&N when I feel I want to use it - whenever that is.

Put it in one of your more modified bikes with an aftermarket exhaust system that you need to rejet the carbs.

Been commuting on Big Red lately. Glad I sold the 400 and kept Red. Nice having that power on tap. Has gotten me out of some sticky situations. Just another pic on the way home. I bought some GoPro extensions, so I may try mounting this weekend.

This is the tank from the RC24 I just acquired. I filled it with EvapoRust last Sunday and will drain it this weekend and continue the cleaning process. Probably only need to be blasted inside with water.

I put an NOS cap on it tonight that came with the bike. Bike didn't have a cap on it. Also replaced the sender o-ring because I was getting a little leaking. It looked pretty good inside to my naked eye....
