RC36-2 Rear wheel axle nut loose

    Yeah, I know I just looked. Doesn't mean I wouldn't absolutely do it. The ST1100 SM states Moly Paste on the shaft drive splines and the rear wheel splines.

    Besides the ST1100 is a drive shaft model , it makes sense to protect those connection's with greaze/paste for various hazards.

    This VFR is the exact same type of splined connection, driving a shaft that happens to have a sprocket attached to it.

    The cush in the sprocket hub obviously helps, but I've seen some hammered VFR and Hawk GT splines. Mine will always get Moly 60.

    I agree , and when I have disassembled this , there was some dry brown paste that seemed to be 29 yo stock . So some grease or paste was there from the beginning.

    so wide part of washer towards the nut? it goes against conventional wisdom.

    No. My fault. I wasn't describing it right. Top of the "hill" against nut.
