Since buying my new-in-crate 2014 VFR four months ago, I finally received my first compliment from a guy outside a restaurant yesterday. As I was walking out, I heard the end of a conversation with his wife about "...that's the whole point - it's like being on a jet ski..." as they walked past my VFR. As we passed, he saw me carrying my helmet and asked if that was my bike. After I confirmed that it was, he asked if the "INTERCEPTOR" lettering was aftermarket, because he'd never heard of that model. He said he thought it was a Ducati at first glance. I'm most familiar with Hondas and know almost nothing about Ducatis. He said it was a beautiful bike and I thanked him for the compliment and gave him a bit of a history less on the VFR and why my 2014 only has 600 miles on it. I posted about this on the Facebook group yesterday and someone commented about the Ducati 916 being an inspiration for the 8th VFR. I had no idea what a Ducati 916 was until I Googled it, but after seeing them side by side, I can certainly understand how the two could be easily confused at a quick glance. I've received far more compliments on my green 2019 Grom - it's quite the conversation starter.
