My wife actually usually reads the stories after I post them up. I expect it's like crusty said and she's happy I'm out on the bike rather than chasing trouble.

you're welcome. it's become kind of a tradition for me to try and get a few stories up through the winter months for people in cooler climes. I used to be like that. I remember going out to the shed to turn on the light and look at my bike sitting there with a thin film of dust sitting in the cold. My breath fogging the air and making the vision almost dreamlike.

I am hoping to come down pretty soon. Maybe next month? My schedule looks pretty good and I have a few backroads I need to revisit.

I've got what I think will be a pretty good route. It's kind of a trial run for the BBQ this summer. It looks like there'll be maybe 5 or 6 of us unless I hear back from some others.

Love it reg thanks! The only thing that keeps me sane in the winter is whipping down a mountain on my snowboard with my wife next to me on her skis! Soon enough we'll both be back on the VFR!

yeah, that's fun, too. I haven't been snowboarding at all this year. I need to check with my wife and see if she's ready to go again...

I really enjoyed that, and I second the compliments on your writing!
I don't ride by myself enough anymore. Don't get me wrong, I do prefer to have a couple buddies along to share the enjoyment, and honestly when you're scratching its safer in case of emergency. But when I first moved here to Charlotte NC, I rode alone to explore until I met some good riding buddies. I hadn't done that in so long, I made sure to get out by myself a couple times last season; once in chilly early spring and once in the fall. There is something about not having to worry if your route is ok with anyone else, leave and return whenever you feel like, and being able to turn down any side road on a whim, just to see where it goes. If its a dead end, no big deal, no one to complain but you.

I have ridden through Cali twice - one week in northern CA from SF to Crater Lake Oregon, and another from L.A. to SF and back via the mountains - and it was ABSOLUTELY beautiful country. I will always cherish those trips, and hope to do some more as my friend now lives in L.A.

thanks, and give us a yell if you are coming through. I ride about 50/50 with people or alone I guess. Unless you count commuting then I'm alone much more.

Cool. Where is up here? What you gonna ride?
