repost: Why cops and motorcycle riders dont get along

Y'know, I just had this very same conversation outside the bar last nite talking with a friend of mine who I ride with all the time, about this video. Also outside the bar was a retired LEO who decided that all we were doing was "bashing cops" and decided to jump in and tell us how wrong we are. I don't hate cops, I hate idiots with too much power which they like to abuse. I don't even bash on law enforcement very often. If it weren't for good upstanding LEO's shit would be a lot different everywhere. I, as a rule, give LEO's the utmost respect for the job they do and the shit they have to put up with on a daily basis just to have a target on their back all the time and little reward for it.

I have to tell ya, there aren't and won't be any posts about LEO's "picking" on sport bike riders cause it's illegal, this dosen't mean it dosen't happen. This dosen't mean that some of the groups that are picked on don't deserve it and give others a bad name though. Just as the .01% of LEO's are giving YOU a bad name.

Last season I had my girlfriend riding pillion on a 90+ degree day, jacket, full face helmet, and gloves. As we had been sitting in traffic, on the way to a big car/bike show, in the sun for at least 20 minutes and were both sweating bullets, she was nagging me about taking off her gear. After some words exchanged I finally told her if she wanted to take off her gear she could walk beside me. So spoiled and I may be but I don't like weed much personally.

I think most of us here know (at least I do) that not everyone is the same, so I DON'T assume that just because you wear a badge that you're gonna pull your sidearm on me and act like a jackass. I've had sevral LEO's give me a break when they had me dead to rights to pin me against a wall. I'd like to thank you for the job you do and will take you at your word that you're one of the good ones that dosen't have it out for anyone. Hopefully one day I can shake your hand and tell you the same before we go for a ride, but then again, maybe I do just need to grow up...................................

I think all cops are extremely intellegent and good looking. True, there are probably those who are fags, but they are not to be of a concern to anyone cause they pull woodies every time they see Badbilly cause they think he is hawt.

 

I don't think he is a jackass which may make me one in your eyes but I do not see that he did anything that bad. And why do we deserve respect because we ride a sport bike; I don't follow and I think you are on a tangent.

Bottom line: ride like a nut, you dont get much choice in how nice the cops are to you. Was the cop a bit over the top? Yep... you get adrenaline flowing all kinds of stupid shit happens. If you go over to the hornets nest and start poking it with sticks, I have trouble feeling sorry for you when you get stung. Man up .

 

If you are wearing jeans no badge in a unmarked and pull a gun the 1st words out of your mouth should be I am the police or state trooper, not turn off your bike.

Besides all that happened with the pulling over issue what bothers me the most is he is being charged for video recording the cop which could get him 5 years wtf. If the cop did not have his head up his butt he would have seen the camera on his helmet. SO now if you get pulled over you have to warn the cops you are recording this before they do or say anything??? Do they give the same warning if they have their in car cam running? Can we charge them for wiretapping too?

 

+1. This is the issue I have the biggest problem with...If a cop can record me and I can end up on World's Dumbest Criminals 9 then a cop should expect to end up on Youtube. They can throw this squid in the slammer for riding like an idiot but it's complete bs that he could go to jail for 5 years for posting his video on youtube.

By the time the fag cops and the inmates get through with this guy he will need to have his Corbin seat re done.

 

The sad thing is if this becomes widespread, we will not be able to record our rides in fear of recording the wrong person, and doing jail time. I do not record my rides yet but I would like to be able to once I can afford the set up. Having video proof incase something happens to you is needed in this day and age. If you get in some ones car and record them that is one thing but out on the road in public you have no right to privacy. specially making a traffic stop.

 

Video recording in public places is legal in every state (I believe). You just can't video record a person in a place where they would have a reasonable expectation of privacy (bathroom, dressing room, through a bedroom window, etc.). It's audio recording that's illegal in many states, unless both parties have given prior consent. I'm pretty sure it was the audio recording that got this dude in trouble. If he had posted the video on YouTube without the audio I don't believe it would have been an issue. In that case, this cop would have just sought him out one dark night and shot him in the head. (J/K!)

You are correct. In Maryland, consent of BOTH parties is required. I believe about 32 states have a one-party consent law, while the remaining have either two-party consent or some other odd requirements.
