Well I just spent the last 20 Mins talking to Dean and he said that a friend of his is bringing him his laptop so he can hopefully get back online from the hospital. He said he will be in the hospital probably for the rest of the week. I told him I would come visit with him on Wed or Thurs night. If anyone else would like to tag along please PM me and we can figure out the logistics.

Thanks Redneck!! He needs some real rider to pay him a visit as a show of support. He was very hard on himself when I spoke with him this morning. I hope that someone can help pick up his bike for him, too...I had just moved to AZ otherwise, I would love to go with you.

I have a truck to pick it up but I'm not sure my old beater will make it up to Big Bear to drop it off. If i can pick it up and someone else can deliver it we can make it happen.

Called Dean this afternoon. I offered to get his VFR if his plans fell through w/ an arrangement that he has in place with a local friend of his. Thanks, Greg, for offering also.

As a It was awkward to post about his incident, therefore, generic reference to Dean in my initial post until his family or kin was notified. We know his circumstances, so we can refer to him by his name .

Thanks derstuka for running a great site. Truly "one world" of VFR owners that's for sure.. I will visit more often.

I post a response regarding picking up the bike for Dean and some how it not posting. I spoke with Dean last night and he already have a friend willing to pick up the bike for him. He will let us know if there is change in the plan. He also will have a lap top so he can chat on VFRW, If anyone leave close by please give Dean a visit. As far as I know Dean from England and does not have any family or relative in the State.
    Hang in there Dean :)

Thanks to everyone for all their good wishes, generosity and kindness. It's nice to know that, God forbid, anything ever happened to me that I would have such strong support from you all. I PM'd Greg (redneck7769) about visiting Dean, PM me if anyone wants to go with me. Thanks again!

Yes, I agree whoreheartedly senor :bandito: After I spoke (and Ray) spoke with him, he said he was ok to let everybody know what his status was.

Thanks for all you did for him. Don't be a stranger around here boss. I know you live near Shayne, and I am sorry for that......just, well, just be sure not to be "alone" with Shayne in any secluded place because I heard that he likes to EXPOSE himself. Must be all of that gay porn he is into. He tried cornering me once, but I managed to scramble up an embankment, and survive off leaves and shrub brush until he got tired and left.

    Updates June 03,8:20pm:

Just spoke with dean and he was in high spirits to hear from fellow vfrw members and would like to extend his HEARTFELT THANKS to EVERYONE! He told me that a friend from his area had a truck and picked up his bike and brought it home for him. According to his friend, the damage wasn't that bad as some expected and even joked that he'll be ready for a ride this weekend! He is vertically positioned all the time and has difficulty serving himself a drink, much more, to do other tasks. At least the staff takes good care of him and seems at ease with them.

He is looking forward to a gathering once he leaves the hospital.

Again, to everyone who helped physically, mentally, emotionally, in prayers and in thought, Dean would like to THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT!

Just a short update on Dean

I went with Chuck to visit Dean tonight. We stayed about 2 hours. Dean is in good spirits, however they keep pushing his back surgery out and it is beginning to frustrate him. The doctors now say they will do the surgery on Sat. and all Dean wants is to go home due to he owns his own business and we all know that that adds up to no business no money coming in. I hope that others can find the time, I know we all have busy lives, to go and visit with him even if for just a little while.

    Update

I'm not that good with words, but I have to say I admire Dean for his spirit! Even after all he is going through, he still was able to laugh at my stupid jokes! One thing he mentioned that I thought was ironic was that he never used to wear a helmet! When he was growing up in the UK and later here in the US, no helmets were required so he never wore one. In fact, he was laughing about how he used to go to anti-helmet rallies! I'd say now that he is not anti-helmet anymore! Was fun swapping cycle stories and joking around, what a great guy! Anyway, he is no longer in the Intensive care unit (which I thought was a good thing) but he said the chicks were better looking there than where his room is now! Sorry about that Dean. He is very anxious to get home, as I think I would be too, so let's all keep him in our thoughts and prayers. They are talking about a procedure on Saturday where they are going to insert rods in his vertebrae (probably spelled that wrong) so they can fuse back together or something like that. Hang in there Dean, we are all with you!

    ---Chuck
