I'm like Pliskin: I have a wider foot. I've owned Sidi cycling shoes and motorcycle boots, and while the quality is first rate, they are too narrow for my feet. They don't start to hurt until about a half hour after I put them on, and then they are very uncomfortable. So give yourself plenty of time if you have a slightly wider foot. I had to quit wearing mine because of the fit. They are great boots if they fit you.

Dehner boots are full custom fit by a fairly complex guide that is sent and must accompany the order. Since the boots and shoes are custom, many choices in finishes, colors, linings, soles and heels, shift patches ect.

    Yep, they are pricy.

Danner boots are also pricy and sized up to 3E widths for some.

Harleydoods are to be seen in flipflops but never seen one in Birkenstocks.

I just ordered a pair of Daytona boots as well, small German company. The highly reputable Helimot glove company in California stands behind their work, which was a good enough recommendation for me. Their reviews are similarly stellar like Sidis, but I like the look of their boots more. Worth a look.

As for alpinestars, Icon, etc. etc. It's all garbage, farmed out production in China. When you factor in longevity and total cost to own, those 500 dollar Sidi boots are far, far, far cheaper than the 200 dollar Chinese made crap.

I have Sidi boots that I have high speed crash tested on the track several times and they do a great job protecting your foot and leg. You can also replace parts for cheap. I am about to replace the outside sliders again. Would recommend them for sure. Pay now and not by pain later.

That's funny, my Alpinestar "garbage" boots are still looking excellent after several years and many miles. I take it you've tried and owned all those brands that you've labeled garbage, otherwise how would you know?

And that has exactly squat to do with everyday wear. Or do you wear full leathers every time you go out? And not two piece leathers either.

A Star make some great every day boots. And I do wear 2 piece zip together leathers all year round and full Kangaroo 1 piece leathers for the track. Though I am looking at some Olympia Motoquest jacket and pants.....

Strong has nothing to riding with proper gear. Even in the dead of summer here, early and late rides with perforated leathers are a no sweat as long as you are moving. I don't wear leathers just when its cool out. Until you can schedule an off with cool weather and leather wearing I will continue to ride with full gear. Sweat washes off, road rash is a bitch.

I've owned at least two products from every company I mentioned, and they were all unequivocally garbage, yes. I'm glad you had better luck with them than me, but I'm not sure what to say. Perhaps you think I should base my advice on the opposite of my personal experiences?

I think I owned a pair of TCX's that were pretty wide (I'm a 4E as well, but only size 11) and I found them to be comfortable.

Motorcyclegear.com has a pair on closeout in size 14.

Dehner boots are custom made. As I recall, there are 13 areas of measurement that cannot be "selfies". Many choices of colors, leather finishes, soles and heels, styles ect. Not for the folks needing instant gratification. They take awhile to be made. Still probably half down and half when finished.

Call em. They are in Nebraska so they talk funny..
