Hi I have vfr800 model 2002 and I want to install a frame slideres, someone has experience in a good frame sliders that fit to the vfr 800 ? i didnt find at rizoma site dedicated sliders. thanks Ilan
R&G....be ready to drill holes in the fairings....after four years I still haven't pulled the trigger on this. Good luck mang Sent from my SGH-T679 using Tapatalk 2
A member here, SonofWolf, has some brand of sliders, and he drops his bike almost on a weekly basis. So he swears by them. If he doesn't post on this thread, maybe send him a PM. Seriously - he drops his bike a lot.
Also note that SOW as Harleydoods help him pick his bike up! So unless you have the same, regardless of sliders, make sure you can lift your bike up yourself! :chaingun:
Ilan Check out a company called Wild Hair Accessories. The link is http://www.whaccessories.com/Honda-XPad-Sliders-VFR-800.htm they offer X-Pad sliders for your VFR 800. No modifications. A friend of mine has them installed and he likes them. Better than cutting holes into the fairing. WC
yes i do. I got a set from www.t-rex-racing.com/ $75.00 they are very well made and no drilling required. they mount to the frame below the front side fairings
those little no cut sliders that screw into the fairing stay will do next to nothing. the stock bracket they attach to will just bend under mild stress and try to take the plastics with it resulting in snapped plastic.
on this bike only one great slider kit R+G sliders-don't get anything else, you cut the fairing or you drop it and pay for plastic and other parts-up to you. R+G sliders will even hold up in a low speed crash.-25mph.
I hate sliders unless the bike was designed from the factory with them. Thats just me, seems like a sin to cut into plastic, cheers and F-SOW. ound:
:boxing::smow::asshat::spider::mechanic::ranger::flamer::dance::joker:Yes its much better to pay Honda when you drop a top heavy bike than to get sliders, some rich folks have even surfaces to park at-not me or live in flat CA where nothing but nerds live or have some kid come over and kick it tell it fall down and can't get up-every drop is different, every bike is too, one size fits no one. No bike is perfect either, till you fix it, especially bikes with two tons of muffler like the vfr has. Yes listen to there crack heads who don't have to fix your bike when the dreaded drop comes. not 6 feet tall so I can put my feet on the ground. I could go on and on bottom line put the dam R+G sliders on with anti -freeze bottle. Don 't care how it looks because one Fall and it will look a lot worse.
I too was scared to cut my fairings, but the idea here is to protect your bike. I added the R&G sliders and feel very secure with them. The kit I bought from them included the modified radiator overflow bottle, a motor-mount rod and the sliders. Just take your time installing them and use a dremel. I've installed them on 2 sport bikes of my own and one of a friends.
Unless of course you're not a fucking goon that constantly drops his bike. the fact is, 99% of us are done dropped a bike, period, after a few months. Because we generally know how to correct OUR OWN MISTAKES WITH THE BIKE THAT CAUSE THEM, INSTEAD OF BUYING STUPID SHIT TO PRETEND WE DON'T MAKE THESE MISTAKES.
Gee how did you not screw up and take two holes to install slider-like I did-can't really see however unless you look very close, but hey it saved the rest.
I took both side fairing off and slide the new motor mount bolt in flush with the mount tube on the side I was going to cut first. I then smeared Play-doh on the inside of the fairing and installed it (again, on the side I was cutting first). I pushed the motor mount bolt in from the other side until it contacted with the fairing and pulled it back out. When I pulled that fairing back off, there was a perfect circle imprinted in the Play-doh. I drilled a hole in the center of that circle then used a dremel to widen it out until it was big enough. One of the only drawbacks to have these sliders on is when you need to remove the fairing. You have to unbolt the sliders too. I have changed the oil without having to completely remove the fairings though, so it hasn't been an issue yet.
The way I used to do it was to sharpen a motor-mount-stud to a point, then remove (un-sharpened/stock on) and button every thing back together, I then used my hands to persuade the panel against the sharp interior point. Once you have thent panel off, you have a perfect bullseye mark on your inner fairing to set up your hole saw to. I still don't like doing them, and if I can use the power of persuasion, I try to discourage the installation of such things. This is just me though...
Who are you kidding bb. You act like he did his own work on them. they'd have folded like a cheap set of cards because his stupid, short and skinny ass wouldn't torque it to the frame.
