SoCal Meet, Greet, N' Eat! Saturday, October 25th

Wow, what a fun day.....it really was a blast meeting all of you! I want to thank all of you for coming and making this event such a fun-filled success! :thumbsup:

Oh, and thanks for our surprise guest bweiss fir sneaking up on us. It was geeat to see you and meet your lady.

It all started when I met Mr Outboard John and Metallyguitarded (James) on the side of 15 north of Escondildo.

Two captain americas aren't enough to strike fear into my ole gear-driven cam viffette!

Then low and behold VFR_Beeline and Dylan showed us how it was done retro-style! Lookin' good!





Things were groovy, as we all took off and assaulted northbound 15 with the roar of VFR thunder to hit the Ortega Hwy. However, as if to add to our adventure, about 2 miles down the road Bee and Dylan were dead in the water on the side of the road. John talked with them, but James (metallyguitarded) and I were too far forward to walk back easily. John came up, said they were gonna wait for a tow. That wasn't sitting well with me, so I called her up and said I was coming back with food and water as they wait and to see if I could help. I told John and James to go ahead to Ortega Hwy and we will meet up later. As I got there and handed Bee a water, we pondered push starting it as it ran out of the main tank and was switched to reserve but would not start up. So Bee and I pushed Dylan a couple of times but no dice, third try and she fired up. They made the decision that she was ok once she was filled up with fuel. We stopped and topped her off a few miles up the road. After Dylan and Bee narrowly avoided becoming a hood ornament on a fast moving Dodge Charger (whew!!), we then strolled up the freeway and then met up with James, and John...and much to our surprise member sliderule (Clinton) was with them as well at the bottom of the Ortega Hwy hill. Clinton was showing off his gorgeous new pearl white 8th gen.


Viffers scattered every which way as we meet up at the bottom of Ortega. This is where the fun starts!

 

The ride up the hill was pretty decent, however, it seems we were destined to be behind 18 royal douchebags who refused to pull over at the many pullouts (SIGH). Despite this, we seemed to (AHEM) "find" a way around the ass clowns and enjoy the ride. We did, however, have one Scion than did a crazy doubleline pass then cranked it up for a tad until we got on his tail and he started pulling over. I have to give a shout out to Dylan for really cranking it up riding double with Bee on the back on the senior viffer.

We lost Outboard John for a tad (sorry Johnny), then were on our way to meet the holiest of burgers! Once we got into the parking lot we spied two viffer 1200's representin'! One belonging to member Cafox, and the other her friend Lenard. Cafox had some outstanding custom paint work on her panels and rims. Very nice!







It sure was a sight of beauty to see all of the viffers stackup one after another.

It was so fun putting a name and face to everybody's member name. After chatting for just a few minutes with new members it felt like we were old friends from long ago.....everybody just seemed to mingle and get along so well. It really was a great time.

After mingling, eating till our belts were ready to burst, and telling old stories....a group of us went a short distance down the road to Oakley headquarters. Mostly because it is a cool looking building and a nice place to take pictures....at least "usually"....this time they had some stuff in the way of the cool torpedo, however, everybody seemed to enjoy seeing the building and walking around inside.

After some more chatting, BS'ing, and some pictures that were taken of me on a torpedo that never should have happened, we rolled over to Cook's corner.

This was primetime HD territory, and we invaded with with the symphony of V4 thunder. We weren't for sure that a rumble wouldn't breakout, so we sent in our security detail Long Dong to send out the badass signal to the frayed leather crowd.

After we said our goodbyes to Cafox and Leonard, we decided to take a few twisties on the way to Ortega Hwy. It was decent, but choked with traffic so I took the posse to a place I like to frolic in the....errrr....I mean a quiet, beautiful place with a great view of Lake Elsinore and beyond.





John is in trouble for this pic, as his helmet on the mirror took it out of calendar contention. :spankme: :lol:




After we all traded stories and enjoyed the tranquility of the spot, we started down the hill toward Lake Elsinore. We rode in a group until we started dropping off one at a time to the little corners of our own individual universes, until it was just me and viffy, as it usually is most times, purring down the freeway. I cannot help feeling a little sad as I part with good friends, not knowing when we might meet again. The cars I was passing could not tell, but I was smiling ear to ear as I reminisced about all of the fun that we all had today. Good times indeed. I can't wait till the next time.

Thanks to everybody for being a part of VFRW history and being a part to make this happen. I hope to see you all again sooner, rather than later.
