Indeed as soon as I got safely back to the Alps from R3, I began planning my next trip - this time to meet up with a group of biker friends at an event in Galway - Ireland next month.

I was originally intending to ride over from the Alps, crossing the channel on the Eurotunnel and then heading for Holyhead to take the ferry direct to Ireland. However I have a few days slack in the timetable and after exploring ferry times, it seems that rather than going direct to Dublin I could go via Douglas and spend 3 full days on the Isle of Man (arriving from late on 13th and leaving early on 17th July) before continuing onto Belfast.

I have already been discussing my plans with another 6th Gen owner based in London, and if he can get time off from work he intends to join me.

So ManxVFR - we will be based in Douglas and if you are around when we are on the island, let me know, as it would be great if we can arrange to meet up and possibly take 3 x VFR800s out for a spin.

Hey SkiMad, great to hear you'll be visiting the Island !
Unfortunately I'm actually off Island for the 13th and 14th but return on the 15th, so we could definitely meet up on the 16th before you head to Belfast.

Well the trip has been sanctioned by the PO.. I have 4 days off (good behaviour I believe) so IOM here we come... Hurry up John - book the ferry

So we are booked. - But as Diving Pete and I will be arriving at the same time as the Southern 100 races on the Island, the ferry's are full to the gunnels. Pete managed to get the last space on the late ferry from Liverpool on the 13th and I will have to travel over on the earlier ferry from Heysham and if all goes well we will meet up on Wednesday evening at the Trevelyan hotel on the Douglas promenade. Its a very long time since I was last on the Island and I am looking forward to a spin around the mountain circuit and catching up with Andy on the 16th.

Damn I love watching that race... I know that's a awesome trip, have to bucket list that one. I see those VFR loving Brits on Wild Bad (You Tube) take trips out there on there VFR's it's awesome. RIP to the 4 brave souls that died doing what they loved.

 

I'm fairly certain that the camera will be out, in fact I'm dedicating a pannier to just camera gear - lol..
Also thinking of taking a couple of GoPros with me - just have to work on mounting them.

 

Guys that's great ! Glad you managed to get booked, a good time to visit too with the southern 100 races being on.
I live near to the promenade so your hotel is not far away, in fact nowhere is far away over here really !

Another pic from TT week, at Windy Corner on the Mountain on Mad Sunday with the missus.
She never rode on my previous VFR (but did on my last bike) and felt extremely comfortable on the back here, thoroughly enjoyed it and the bike handled extremely well for me too.
