Hey Nookiaz. If your bike is sitting outside, did you remember to remove the battery, and plug up the end of the exhaust pipe. If not maybe ask your brother to stuff a rag in the exhaust outlet to prevent rodents and/or bugs from using your exhaust as a condo. It is also a good idea when storing the bike outside to plug the intake on the air box as well. You can raise the tank and remove the top of the air box and stuff a rag in the opening to close it off. Just remember to remove the rags before you go to start the bike come spring, or it won't run worth a crap.

Mine was not ridden today. But tomorrow, another story.

Next time I am out there, I'm going to tell the kids that daddy wants a new paint job for his bike, then I am giving them a litre of Behr Paint from Home Depot and a couple paint brushes. I will even open and stir the paint for them.

Ooooooooh, lord, you're scaring me Randy. That's it, sorry Chantal, nail polish is off limits. For that matter so is make-up, skirts, tight pants, bathing suits, boys ...........................

OH, NO........... Chantal is cute, everyone TELLS her she's cute, she knows how to work being cute, And she has a brother that is 2 years older who undoubtedly will bring home friends that will find her cute................ OH GOD, we are in such trouble. Should I get a license now Randy and by a firearm (to shoot myself of course) or just hang a large bore weapon in the front entrance that all I need do is point to when the boys start showing up to pick up Chantal for a date?

I see you updated your avatar :)
It's parked outside since April/May when I got her...I have a Nelson-Rigg cover, not really waterproof but does the job. I didn't find any squirrels in my muffler yet ! And no bugs either. Thank you for the tip though, I never consider plugging up any intake or exhaust oppenning when storing . I will do that when I ride the bike to my brother's.
BTW can you still raise the tank when it's full ? Can't find warnings in the manual but I don't think you can...

I have raised the tank when it is 3/4 full and never had an issue. It is a fair bit heavier but that's about all. If you ride the bike and use it frequently when it is stored outside it is unlikely that it would be attractive to rodent since it is moved a lot. When it sits for a long time in the same place it is a more attractive home. I have had bikes in the past, when I lived in Calgary, that were stored outside over the winter, and though they were always covered, the only time I had an issue is when the bike sat, unmoving, for about 4 months. Found a mouse nesting under the seat on my CB450. After cleaning up that mess I placed a mouse trap (box style) underneath the bike by the center stand as a precaution and stuffed a rag in the tail pipes to keep out the bugs and spiders.

    Not on but IN.....
I found this after removing my PC with the intent to sell my 02. Long story short, I was riding my VFR on three cylinders for three years! This was there when I bought the bike. I had no idea! I wasn't happy with the performance and thought I'd move on..... well duh! The little sucker who lived in there had a snack on number 4 cylinder's wiring harness. Apparently the PC didn't let the ECU register any codes. After it was removed, the bike wouldn't start.

After I replaced the harness..... um, let's just say I'm NOT talking about selling any longer!!

Damn Tusk - can't believe you were riding it like that for 3 years. That's amazing!

Fuck them fuckin mice. They fuck shit up.

Over the winter, my bike has a gauntlet of traps surrounding it, even though I keep it in the garage.

Holy Yikes man. Now that is seriously messed up. I'm with Pliskin in that I don't know how you could have stood to ride it for three years like that. Bet the fuel mileage was horrific and you were constantly being passed by scooters. Glad to hear you finally solved the problem though. Must have been a HUGE difference. Thanks for sharing.

I think that mice get a bad rap. They are just poor misunderstood creatures that women, and some men, get their panties in a knot over and jump up onto chairs screaming. Right Zoom?

    Hey Rider

I would most honestly agree. If one of the lizards native to your area was sitting atop my bike, I would NOT be standing quite as close when taking pictures. Not to mention the tank, seat, and fairing damage that might occur from a crocodile crawling up there. YIKES!!!!

Yes, I like mice, I like to feed them to the next door neighbours cats. When the cats are big enough, we feed THEM to the next door neighbours DOG, and when he's big enough, we thought that we could feed it to some of the crocodiles in Florida. It's called recycling, I think.
