It hit me the other day, I know what a Super Moto would be awesome for. It would make the ultimate rider coach bike. Light, flingable, easy to maintain, cheap on gas, who cares if it falls over, etc...

I don't know who you're referring to, but I DO NOT own a Buell. I WILL NEVER own a Buell. I DO NOT post on any Buell website. I WILL NEVER post on a Buell website. I am not even remotely concerned that Buell went belly up.

No, not me. I do know the guy you're talking about, though.

I am actively looking but it seems the amount of cash I have is not going to procur a bike in the condition I want so I need to wait a few more months. I have my choice down to a 71-74 CB750K. Preferrably one that still has the 4 into 4 exhaust intact. This is pretty much the exact bike I want.

Absolutely agreed. That bike is exactly what I'm looking for & I would buy one. I prefer Honda, but after the Fury, DN-01 & the new VFR, my brand loyalty is right out the freaking window.

Hell For Leather has the following article about the CB1100. They guesstimate it would be $10000 - $11000 if imported to the US. It weighs 535lbs wet & (no surprise to me) has a 5 speed. If they do in fact import the bike to the US, it will no doubt be a complete sales failure. You can get the Suzuki Bandit with much more HP for around $9000 if you're good at driving a bargain.

Life History/Philosophy: I spend my days at 25000 Ft flying around at .86M which is about 600MPH. Then I have to prepare for aircraft running into me for fuel. After this goes on for hours we have to fly to another aircraft and run into it for fuel. All this happens at 356MPH. We speed back up to 600MPH to get home. After flying for hours and traveling thousands of miles we land back at base. I have to get on my 1125 at 65MPH and pray that some douche bag does not run me over on I295 on the way home so I can get up and fly around refueling planes midair the next day. Shouldnt air refueing be more dangerous?
Top speed on 2 wheels (mph): Top speed after leaving the ground on 10 wheels....750 Knots 836 MPH

No doubt. If someone can get so tweaked over a bike I suggest you dont take up aviation for a hobby. I came in at the end of HD/Buell and got a great deal. Some small issues but nothing that cant be fixed with some time and patience. I found a dealer with a tech that owns a new CR and plan on using them for whatever I need. That alone speaks volumes over the place where I bought the bike. Maybe Buell isnt for everyone. Just like jumping out of airplanes, you hate it or you LOVE it.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
KC10 Fe which aviation? airplanes are relatively ok.. helicopters OTH are sometimes nightmares to work with. LOL

For the record i enjoyed everytime i jumped from an airplane, the freaking landing though.... it isn't as pretty as they show on TV... it could be those damn T10 chutes though

    Justa4banger: KC10 Fe which aviation?

Take your pick. I have C-141, KC-10, KC-97/B-29, B-17, B-25, DC-3, 150, 172, T-34 time. A&P,II/MEI all kinds of shit Ive either flown or logged a few FE hours in.
I could own a lot of crap for the cash I dropped to get tickets for warbirds and the later. Honestly I like having a unique machine and a 1125R fits that bill.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
    KC10Fe....

Well your on the airplane side... i deal with helo's... much more hair pulling LOL

After reading what you've posted, I am 100% certain I know the guy you're talking about. The funny part is, he's never mentioned bikes before. I didn't know he even owned one.

Needless to say, it ain't me. I've stated many times I've only ever flown the KC-10.

Having met KC at Bubba Z's BBQ for about two hours, I would have to say he is much more agreeable in person than many find him on line. Don't take his opinion for more than his opinion. And if he does annoy you, pm me for pics of his bar ends. :spy:

KC - get out and ride some bikes you find on Craigslist. You'll be better able to tell what they look like and how they feel if you get on them. You seem like you could wrench a used bike to bend to your will, so make it happen. SFPA got a Triumph Bonnie and he's loved it. I think it is hilarious how they make the FI look like a carb, but whatever.

If the nice Honda does come to the states, I can't imagine it will be cheap.

obtw... does that green bike have a PTO or a mower deck available?

Before I forget, the bar ends are no more. When I crashed my bike in October, I ruined the right one so I simply painted both of them semi-gloss black. I know Bubba & yourself are so dissapointed. If you can find me someone with 3rd grade art skills, I will let them repaint them for me.

I still can't decide if I want a turn key ready, partially or fully restored bike or one that needs a good deal of wrenching. A fixxer-upper is obviously much cheaper. My neighbor works in a body shop so the paint will be very easy. A simple air cooled 4 cylinder has got to be the easiest engine on the planet to rebuild. I used the Hawk GT I used to own as a crash course in Carb's 101.

On the flip side of that coin, it's that much easier to buy one that someone else did all the work & more importantly, paid all the cash to restore. Of the 5 I'm looking at currently, all 5 are selling for far less than the total cost of the restoration. When you consider the parts are hard to find & things like chroming rims & such is not cheap, I am leaning heavily to just buying a very nice finished or almost finished bike. If I could find one that is mechanically great to awesome but with lousy paint, that would be perfect. Since I have access to cheap paint, that's what I would like. I've seen my neighbors paint skills & they are top notch. He runs a bike workshop out of his garage so it normally costs me a carton of Marlboros to get two tires mounted & balanced.

As soon as I have the required cash lined up, I will be certain to post up picks of the bike I buy. Since I'm going with the CB750K, I am already planning on getting a CB400SS so the Wife will have a classic to ride around on as well.

There are plenty of great bikes out there. I don't think the motorcycle industry "sucks" because you can't find one that fits your unique criteria. The motorcycle industry may well suck for other reasons, though - and it probably has everything to do with us, the buyers. Motorcycle manufactuers will produce the the kind of motorcycles that market research indicates will sell in the United States. We get what "we" deserve.

Me? I have never purchased a new motorcycle and I never will, so market researchers couldn't care less about what I like.

I didn't read through all four pages since it started getting kind of "Ghey" with the disagreements and all.

But, with a good upgraded rear shock and some front fork work you could have pretty darn good bike in the Honda CB900F "919" 02-07 Model? Just dropping another bike into the mix. Some love it, some hate it and some just ride the crap out of it!

The 919 is on my list if I buy a a new bike instead of a classic. The only "bad" things I could say about a 919 is it's a boring bike & I hate the placement of the mufflers. Other than that, the bike is a solid choice.

Having read all the replies, I must say I agree with most of you guys. I misspoke & should NOT have called this thread "The Motorcycle Industry Sucks". My problem lies with the buying public in the US. In the US, all the people care about is Harleys/cruisers & the fastest thing money can buy. This is why the VFR never sold. It's more expensive than a 600, has less HP than a 1000, etc. It doesn't appeal to the imbeciles that buy the majority of sportbikes which is why Honda let it go unchanged for 9 years. It truly gets on my freaking nerves. Because of this, I can't find a true "standard" any longer. That's a shame since anyone who's owned one will attest to the fact that they have lots of merits.

I think the other KC liked a very good bike, the 1125R, its over 100lbs lighter than the VFR 800 with about 25 more RWHP.
It has a similar powerband that the 800 has but more of an urgent, no holds barred , lets get the job done feel about it.

The CR model is an option with lower gearing and really no fairing at all. I lost 4 grand buying my 1125r before the collapse
but I'm still glad I bought the bike, it is that good. Trouble is that it takes a while to search out the bikes secrets, just going for a short
ride is not enough time to find out what its really all about,, and most, will never know.

If I could get a Honda Super Bel Dor, A yam Zeffer or MT-01, Or CB1000r that they got outside the US, Id have one. Ya' can allways STRIP and streetfigher one of these plastic coated bike thet these 18 y/o kids wreak all the time.
