That left is just the shaft and a needle bearing (for the chain drive forces). The right side has the ball bearings and spacers to control side-to-side movement.

New exhaust head bolts installed. They don’t seen tor want to torque out so I ran them in until they were the same length as the older ones.
Cut off the old race finally. A little nick on the stem but should be fine. Keep on pushing. image.jpg image.jpg

Have you cracked the starter open and flushed out all of the brush dust?

New exhaust gasket installed and cool ass long bolts for header install. Leaving a little loose until it is go time. Better half got to lightly punch exhaust “clamps “ while I held the headers.

Hose everything down with electronics cleaner. The windings and the case with the magnets too. Clean up the armature with red erasure. Maybe lightly sand the brush faces for a fresh surface to reduce making groves.

All torqued and mounted!! Been waiting for this day! image.jpg image.jpg image.jpg

Lower case cover to be power coated in the near future. Penske still in process, so continue on front end for now. Time to press bearing onto lower.

    SM,
Well it is my first time on everything so I have what I have. Hardly think those are going to make this bike from fall apart. With all of the other metal taking the load I should be good.

Pretty damn sure those washers are for the rear brake torque arm shoulderded bolts. The rubber just happens to be stuck to the washer, not actually vulcanized to them.

I believe you are correct on both accounts now that you mention it. I bagged and tagged a lot of critical parts, but like a moron I unpacked a few bags at one time so my "swing arm" stuff got mixed with "frame" stuff. Off to a car show and hardware store for pipe +.

using an exacto blade or small knife and several hours of your life, you can straighten most of those bent radiator fins and improve cooling. i usually smoke a blunt and get deep into it, no rush.
