    Apostrophies though rarely romantic,
    Are useful and highly semantic.
    Defining whose is
    Or whose was is
Yet more the pursuit of the anal pedantic.

    The apostrophe's often abused:
It gets battered, and bruised, and misused.
    On a plural, a blight;
    For possessives, just right,
Barring "its", which leaves people confused.

    On the subjects of it's.
    To wits Holy Writs.
    The singular remains,
    Plain we maintain,
Since its is always the tits.

I honestly dont know what kind of oil is in my bike. I just take it to the Honda dealership and when they ask what oil I prefer I say, " the good stuff".
Personally IDC as long as the bike has oil and it runs. You guys buy and use what ever oil you like. Just buy the oil and keep me and my boys workin!

(no apostrophes were harmed in the writing of this post)

So when your dealer releases you from being bent over a sawhorse does he use cuffs, rope or cable ties? We won't mention what he has done with the old oil..

So when it exits is it still unpopped and makes little klinking noises as it hits the porcelain?

Try not to concentrate too hard on the visual aspects. The sound part is the good part. ;)

I used to use Mobil-1 in all my bikes when I rode them all the time as my only form of transport & when I was a bike courier, it was & still is the best oil I've ever come across. That siad, it's damn expensive in the UK now & I use Castrol GTX syntehtic now & never had any problems, but I only use my bikes for fun & short commutes to work in the better weather now. Oil gets changed once a year with 1500-2000miles on it, so no big deal. I only change my oil filter every other oil change as that's still within the normal oil/filter change schedule (Honda says 8K miles) & as its a mechanical item that does NOT wear & if its good for 8K miles use, then 3-4K will not hurt.

When I was a courier, the bike had an oil change every other weekend (3-4K miles), but the oil filter stayed on for 12k miles (one every 6-8 weeks) never had an engine wear problem, but had many blind driver wear problems !

...and look, it goes dead again. *crickets chirping*

I was wondering if I'd really see that oil results comparison before this thread ended.

After reading the oil report mentioned earlier, (a very good read at http://www.ducatimeccanica.com/oil.html) it looks to me like Mobil1 is my first choice, Castrol synthetic is my second choice, and if I'm suddenly broke, Castrol dino oil which was what I used for many years while roadracing. Lots of guys used Redline and other oils because of sponsor deals. When I asked many of them what they'd use if it was coming out of their pockets, the answer was usually "whatever is cheapest".

I've been using Rotella for a few years now, but Mobil 1 is starting to look good. If it shifts funny or clunky, I'll change to Castrol synthetic, and if that shifts funny or clunky, I'll change to Castrol dino which was my fav before switching to Rotella long ago. I don't know of anyone that has ever lunched a motor from a bad oil choice other than not keeping oil in the motor.
So that's my short list for oil from now on.

[IMG] for the K&N filters with the nut on the end. I buy a few at a time on ebay and keep them in stock for all my bikes. It's a no-brainer.
