The old girl is shy when she doesn't feel properly dressed.

Wow, I just took the time this morning to go through 8 pages and I must say it was time well spent.
Hopit88 you are a motivator. I'm sure more than just myself are pricing bikes and pieces to do something with an old bike. I'm deploying Nov. 6th for a year but that gives me plenty of time to set up a solid "modest" plan for my VF1000R and Hawk GT that I don't own yet. Thankfully the time will be spent saving money also. Plus the Mrs. gave me a thumbs up for a multi bike garage.

Your project looks great and I think would be a great candidate for Bike Exif. Good luck, looking forward to the big unveiling.

As far as front signals... Have you thought about NSR750 (also on Blackbird?) I don't know how they'd look on it..... but you'd get two for one; mirror and signal.... food for thought....

A kR AND a Hawk GT, that is a sweet 2 bike choice. The R for grunt and the GT for finesse in the twisty bits. Quite the wish list.

It's been a long road and I've missed out on some good riding but I'll pack in as much as I can before the snow flies. It's been a big help keeping positive by posting my progress and getting feedback on my design choices. Made me feel like I was in the game even though I was just watching. Now the coach is very close to putting me in so hopefully this weekend I'll take her out for her maiden voyage.

Sorry to hear you'll be gone for a year but thank you for your service:thumbsup:

It's not so much the signal itself but their location. I hung them in the R's stock location but they look kind "off" to me there. Like an after thought. My instinct tells me to mount them slightly further back, actually in the fairing, I don't know.

The mirror mounted signals look a little to modern for me. Thanks for the heads up though.

I would imagine that you don't want too many chefs here (not that you need them) but I agree that the signal aesthetically does not have enough breathing room between its housing and the fairing. Mounting lower profile signals on the fairing would look much better, IMO.

I don't believe it! I actually rode my bike!!! Man did it feel F'n good. It's not completely done but who cares, I had to ride it this year. Below 50 degrees but I didn't feel a thing! Here's a couple of shots from various angles just to hush the doubter's. Still looks sort of like a VF1000R only better.

I do believe the benevolent two-wheeled spirits of All Hallows' Eve are very much smiling tonight!

Many thanks for taking the time to document this build. Really top notch workmanship and I can tell that more than a few sleepless nights were spent (enjoyably, no doubt) thinking through the design.

    Congratulations!

Thanks everyone. Very very nice words for a hack like me.

You guys were starting to get that "Let's string him up!" look in your eye's so I figured I'd post up some full shots before it got ugly, even though technically she's not done(I need a new windshield).

I need to sort out a high idle and possible heat issue but that will all wait till spring. What the hell am I supposed to do if I don't work on this thing, get a life? UHHH!

Time for a new avatar I guess...*sniff* *sniff*
