Hi there. I'm new to this forum and this is my first post. I'm a proud owner of a new-to-me 1986 VF500F and currently going through sorting it mechanically. My question is about this nipple under the fuel tank. The bike has had PCV/charcoal canister, etc removed. Does this have something to do with that deleted system? Is there a hose that's supposed to be attached here at the tank? The previous owner left all the remaining holes un-plugged and I've gone through and capped all those (airbox,carbs,etc). This is the last one I can see may have belonged to a hose. Should I plug it? Thank you for any insight into this. It's been difficult finding images online or a diagram that shows this nipple. I also noticed not all years of the VF500F even have it. . as it may be a California thing.
The gas caps on California bikes are not vented, so the tank must be to flow fuel. You do not want to plug that unless you have a vented cap. It originally was connected to the evap canister thru a vacuum activated valve. I would run a hose and route it down with the crankcase breather drain hose, as sometimes gas can dribble out of a vent spigot.
