$900 a year with Jevco for an 06, but this is high because I lost the M license I got the day I turned 16 and showed up at the licensing office on my Honda 90 (many many years ago) and had to start all over again from zero in September 2007. The broker might also be taking a bigger cut.

    Jevco: 223$ no collision

    Theft/fire included

    Montréal, QC

1st bike, 26 yo, no tickets, no accidents

Cheaper in Quebec because insurance companies don't have to pay for Physical Wounds. This is included in our plates, which cost 650$ for a regular bike and 1400$ for a sport. Both were roughly 300$ 4 years ago...

VFR is not a Sport bike. It's a sport touring so it is classed as a regular bike. Seems like Quebec wants to stop the growing popularity of biking by over taxing.

    ----------------------------2007--------2008--------2009--------2010
    Sport (400cc+)-------300$-------667$--------1030$-------1400$
    Regular (400cc+)-----300$--------416$--------518$--------630$

List of bikes considered as "sport" in Quebec. Note that there is no link between this list ans the one your insurer have. It means that you can pay for a regular bike when plating and have to pay for a sport bike with your insurance company.
    http://www.saaq.gouv.qc.ca/publications/immatriculation/liste_moto.pdf

    For example, for a car:

Basic plates: 260$ (you need to have your car insured privately)

If your car worth more than 40 000$, they charge you 1% of the difference between the value and 40 000$. (ex: 45000$ = 50$)

If your car is 4.0L or more, you have to pay 30$ + 10$ for each 0.1L to a maximum of 150$

So, let's say I want to plate my new Silverado 5.3L (50 000$), annual plates will be:

    260$ (basic) + 100$ (luxury) + 150$ (5.3L) = 510$ and still no insurance

And you still have to pay gas for it with prices in the top 3 highest in Canada, thanks to our "free" health system and "free" education.

Yeah I know, Quebec sucks...

Can't wait to leave! Probably moving to Saskatoon! You just can't imagine how being unilingual french is an handicap. I definitely need to practice my english...

    Wow, that's just craziness!
On the bright side, if you catch on to spoken English as well as you present yourself writing in English, then you're all set! There's no way I would have been able to tell that you're not fluent!
What line of work are you in? Just hop over to Ontario!

Thanks a lot! I made a lot of efforts in the last year to become more fluent but the writing side is the easiest one. I'm going to Florida for 2 weeks and we'll see if I'm better than last year when I went to Virginia Beach. It's really hard to convince my girlfriend to quit Quebec since she doesn't speak english and she seems to have no interest into it. She always says that she doesn't need it to do her job and she's 100% right (she's a nurse).

Thanks to Prison Break, the hearing side is going pretty well too. I just never have the chance to speak so we'll see next week!

In fact, I'm a mechanical engineer working for a plastic film company. We produce a lot of plastic to be transformed in potato chips bags. (Yes, they are made of plastic, not aluminum)

We have a plant in the USA and already asked to be transfered but as you probably know, it's pretty hard to immigrate to the US actually. So my friend offered me a job for his company in Saskatchewan. I passed the 1st interview and waiting for the results.

See? There you go again! Your reply reads like it was written by a monolingual block-head! (that's what the french kids called me after moving to Quebec from Toronto, lol).

I'd be a tough choice for me to move, man. Especially if it meant leaving my French-Nurse-Girlfriend!!!
That's a hot combination in my humble & respectful opinion! Who's with me?!:hitit:
Sorry for sounding blonde...what's this Prison Break you refer to?

The TV show. Watched all 4 seasons. I needed french subtitles at the beginning but not anymore!

If you haven't watch the serie, consider renting it or find it on the net. Best TV serie I have ever watched, so addictive!!!

I'm 24 in Nova Scotia with an at fault accident and my 94 vfr 750 costs me $530/year with primmum for PLPD only. Last year it was $435, not sure why my rates have gone up.

In quebec I was quoted $3300/year from primmum with manditory collision/theft (thats for a bike I paid $2300 for, it'd cost less to replace the bike than to insure it for coll/theft)... I gifted the bike to my father and was put on his policy as an occasional and paid $270/year through him until I was back in NS.
