Looks to have been a VFR in the photos. Hard to tell though:

EDIT: Not a VFR but still not cool. Seems like the kid was a student at Penn State. Video closer to the bike/scene here, along with more info: Penn State Student Shot Dead Over Motorcycle | NBC Philadelphia

Really makes you wonder sometimes whats come of people these days. We all worry about what could happen when were riding... I never thought someone would ever try to bikejack me, let alone kill me for something worth less than 5 grand. Bike appears to be a ZX6R or some other ninja. Hopefully they catch the loser.

Looks like a 6th or 7th Gen but it may be another bike? I am not a bike connoisseur by any means.

BTW: This is in the absolute worst part of Philly, so I am not surprised at where it happened...

Nonsense like this is why I hate cities. I simply don't know how anyone could live in a large city such as Philly.

Not that it matters, but that is a late model Kawasaki ZX-6R.

    KC-10 FE out...

if he was packing heat and had a tank bag he coulda just reached in and pulled out a glock and wasted dah thug. I got mine in my tail bag, not much use for a bike jacking. Sad state of affairs, condelences to the riders family. Yeh a Kawi with upside down forks like a 636/

What a waste. Carrying might give you a chance at survival but location is the key to staying out of trouble.

Living or visiting a large city really reduces your odds.

Best advice is to stay out of trouble and carry.

It just wouldn't be worth ranting about here, if it wasn't a VFR. Shit happens, the world isn't rainbows and unicorns.

I live and ride just outside of Philly. I've been downtown on my VFR as well as through some bad sections of the City. Most that live around here know the bad sections and will avoid them at all costs. I carry a Glock 23 with me 99% of the time when I am riding. I can access it in seconds, but with a gun to my head, he's getting a VFR. I have full coverage. You need to be aware of your surroundings even more than normal when riding through bad areas.

Also, more to the story seems to be saying that the bike owner was sitting on his stoop. The man with a gun came up to the owner, said he wanted his keys. When he said no, the man with a gun pulled the gun and shot the guy a few times in the chest and head. I've heard stories of people being killed over $5 in the news here. WTF... Thugs brought up with no value for life will take a life for so little.

Bullshit, take a hit of this and have a drink, you'll see rainbows and unicorns everywhere.
