    top speed

I had my 84 700 up to 125 and I don't think it had much left in her. Maybe downhill with a tailwind I could have gotten 130ish. I just turned 50,000 miles on it last summer and I think it's getting a bit tired but I still love it.

I find my '86 really starts to pull at about 100, which is scary enough for me. Good to know I have some reserve power if I feel the need to make haste.

i got up to 135 on the 7 mile down here today... but had to keep slowing down for traffic. call me a wuss but i just dont feel comfortable passing cars at 130+ lol
i just did a few 80-120 pulls. toeing in in sixth gear from 80 is fun and hitting vtec at 100mph puts a big smile on your face, but down shifting to 3rd HOLYSHIT a buck 20 comes up fast!!! i dont think ill be breaking that personal record any time soon unless me and my bike take a vacation to germany lol

A few weeks ago I was on a backroad and right when I hit a downgrade with plenty of visabilty I whipped it from 70 up to 115. It was in a blink of an eye. But once again, it was a little hill, and then had to slow down as the hill started to go up at a steep angle, and I lost visability of oncoming traffic. I am no speed demon, I just like to push it every now and then. after I am more comfortable with this bike ( i have had it for a little more then a month ) I will take it on a straight backroad and see what she can do. I am hoping this bike will do the 140 the speedo says ( my goldwing did that, and my 77 cb750 did at last 130 I would be dissapointed if my "sport" bike cant keep up with those two. Will update when I get a safe time to do so. Always got to be cautious.

I dont know fore sure on 2 wheels, but I am a former ase certified mechanic for automobiles and I can tell you that anything after 85 mph isnt considered reliable in a stock vehicle. It is normal to read anywhere from 7-22% higher then actual mph. Im sure the higher performance the vehicle or bike the closer to reality it is, however I would doubt that it is dead on accurate, at those speeds the most important thing is safety and not accuracy on your speedo. Just my 2cents.

The speedo on stock VFR is always off like on many other bikes around 10%. It can be adjusted but then it will start showing wrong numbers at lower speeds. And when you change the tyres you have to set it again. So if you don't have a lot of time on your hands don't do it.

Anyway got my 4-th gen VFR to German autobahn and recorded the speed using GPS it recorded 264.4 kmh ( 164.3 MPH). There wasn't much more overhead for revs. It had high performance oil filter, air filter and new muffler which allows better flow of exhaust gases but is on the edge of legal sound limit @ 5000 rpms.

A couple weeks ago I had my 6th gen (2007) to 151. Only thing I've done to it is O2 eliminators, and PCIII that has been dyno-tuned/custom-mapped. I know I can and will get it faster... will post when I do!

151mph according to my navigation system. didn't look at the needle. not sure how accurate they are though. And that was on the German autobahn where you have all the time and straight road in the world to build up a head of steam!!

Apparently, my Velo bicycle speedo only goes to 126.3 MPH.

I went 10,500 RPM in 6th on my '86 VFR700 today that 'calculates' to about 145mph.

My 00 5th gen got up to 256 kph (159 mph?) on the speedometer. Would love to get a gps sometime soon. It has over 76,000 Km on her now and is still pulls strong. Like others have said it is amazing how the VFR seems to like cruising above 200 kph.

    My top speed

    Hi There
Many years ago, when i was young and stupid, i had an indicated 142mph on my VFR FG. Not too shabby for an old girl. This is my first time on this site, only joined tonight.
I will be picking up a VFR FJ at the weekend, so i am pretty excited,:
