No, really, it was a UK only recall. USA motorcycles were not effected.

that's what Honda says but the truth says otherwise. Just glad I didn't get this lemon pie with nasty cream from BB troll bridge. That's actually metal shavings from lack of oil-=the whole engine is a Hot potato !:caked:

Mine has 53000km on the clock and no issues at all.
However I only use 98RON and it has an optimized ECU by Don Guhl, that makes combustion so much better.
Also opened the exhaust (always) and removed valve-pairing.
The standard programming is poor, especially below 5000RPM, maybe that is the source of the problems with the valves?
When I bought this bike I noticed the poor handling and weird behavior below 5000RPM, since then I have done about 15000km and it runs great.
    No noises or other problems.

I did with my bike what folks in the USA do, get the ECU fixed.
EU programming of it could be well the entire problem, as combustion is a mess at low RPM.

If all these bikes in Germany are having problems, it begs the question "What is different about the German bikes?"

Are they using a different ECM for different emission regulations? Is the fuel in Germany somehow different?

    It's simple, they have EU-PROGRAMMING.

EU-programming doesn't burn fuel good at low RPM.
Same happens with cars, they look CO2 only, you can't have combustion without CO2......sadly the EU idiots think you can.

EU-politicians and rules on CO2 are as stupid as they can be, as such engines die......diesels have the same problems, the EGR-valve...look for it.
Same as Valve-paring-system, all crap and make engines run poor.

This has nothing to do with fuel, but all with CO2 emissions and stupid politicians.
Get the ECU fixed, then remove the pairing-valve as well as the silly exhaust valve.....be happy and trouble free,

The hell with those CO2-commies!!! :chaingun:

Are you sure this is a computer bug or a engine defect? Techron gets rid of this kind of junk. I add to my car gas and bike too.:frog:

I just saw this post and wanted to comment. The VFRR1200 bottom end in question looked very much like the one in my VTR1000. It spun a bearing. The damage seemed to start at the left main bearing and continue out with scored crank journals. I could never find a definitive answer as to why it happened. The Honda VFR has a great reputation for reliability just not this one. It seems like the same thing might have happened to this VFR1200.

    Hey!
I have read your article about the Honda VFR 1200 FD motorcycle. A very sad and at the same time happy ending.
My bike has the same problem.
How did you contact Honda Japan? What address? E-mail?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best regards, Viktor Müller

Hi Victor and welcome to the Madhouse:Welcome:.

It is sad to hear about the trouble with your VFR. I had rather hoped that fotodaddy would have responded to your question, however he may no longer be following this thread so I will endeavour to help.

I should warn you that things have changed significantly since this thread kicked off back in 2013 with fotodaddy seeking help with a relatively new motorbike which was less than 3 years old and would have still been subject to EU warranty cover but for it being moved outside the EU.

In your case your motorbike is getting on for 10 years old hence I very much doubt even Honda Japan will be willing to assist.
However you won't know, if you do not try.

I cannot be sure but I suspect fotodaddy contacted Takahiro Hachigo, who at that time was the President and Representative Director in Japan.

However back in 2021 Takahiro stepped down from that role and was replaced by

    Toshihiro Mibe
    2/1/1 Minami Aoyama,
    Minato-ku,
    107-8556 Tokyo,
    Japan

As for what you might do there is of course a general email address for Honda, however I very much doubt that an email enquiry will result in any offer of help.

However in a world where everyone fires off emails - whenever a personal handwritten letter arrives by post they tend to get far more attention, and just might get a better outcome.

Good luck - let us know how you get on.

    Hello!
Thanks for the reply and tip. I have sent several emails but have not received a reply. I also think that I can reach them by regular mail.
I've tried to look for information on the VIN numbers which were the risk engines, but I couldn't find any.
JH2SC63C2AK001169 if I understood correctly this is the Year model 2010. Only 50000 km on the meter
