    Hi Folks,

I think the VFR1200 would be the result, if my ST1300 and my VFR800 had a love child. I am happy I own a VFR800 along with my ST1300 and not a VFR1200. ST for daily commutes and long hauls with all the farkle and creature comforts and the VFR for the weekend twisties and the commutes when the weekend just isn’t enough.

At the end of the day I think it is the market and sell-ability that drives the production designs. We can take solace that it is a Honda and will run and perform like one.

    The debate is sure interesting.

My n00b .02: Coming off of an ST1300, one of my main concerns re: VFR is the chain. At least 6th gen VFRs have ABS, but I swore not to do any chain maintenance again after I sold my WeeStrom. Going to a 6th Gen VFR is, for me, a compromise - smaller engine, no shaft, lower cost to buy.

The VFR1200 is almost exactly what I want - but I tend to shy away from 1st year models, and I can't imagine that the cost will be low enough for me. But me likey the new Viffer a whole lot!

    Think about this.
The drive shaft and releted components weighs 60LBS.!!!!! Just the rear hub "pumpkin" can weigh 30 lbs.,!!!
With modern chains and chain lube that you put on, leave overnite, and then it will not fly off.

Or would you want a belt that breaks more often than a chain, has to have a tremendus amount of tension and load on the tranny output bearing, and if it does break you have to REMOVE the swing wing arm to get a new one on!!

Or just a simple and efficient chain that works well, and you can buy it all over the world at many stores and everybody knows what it is.

    Hi Donald,

"Farkle" a term I picked-up from the st-owners forum. From what i understand it refers to all the bells and whistles.

Thanks for the info. Maybe farkle came from the word sparkle?

I think you are absolutely on about the leading tech gadgets going on the VFR. The VFR moniker has always been cutting edge. I like the new XR 1200, but the VFR1200 looks light years ahead. Some models may be dropped in the future as bike sales decline somewhat, but as we get older and want more "luxury" we can keep a VFR. How cool is that! On another note BMW was racing in WSBK and did well for the first try. Maybe this VFR can morph into that with rule changes... What is the RC # of the new model? Did they drop that with the chain?
