There have already been many threads asking for advice on tire choice.

I would like to suggest we create our own independent VFRWORLD tire(tyre) database, and at last be able to see what tyres go well with a VFR, rather than reply on tire manufacturers claims. (I don’t work for a tire company, and database will only be as good as the information you post – so please be honest – if you ride like a racer say so!) When you replace your next tire please post up here the following information:

    Your bike – year, model/engine/options Example :– 2007 VFR 800vtecABS
(NB Please state if the bike has ABS as it may affect tire wear/loads)

Your main riding style - Choose from :– commuting, local runs, touring, track day/racer,

About the tire(s) you replaced (please make two entries if both tires were changed)
Tyre Make, exact model, size, front or rear
    (Example – Bridgestone, BT021, 120/70/ZR17 – FRONT)

Time and Mileage since installed. Example – replaced after 14 months/10,802 miles

Why was it replaced? Example – Worn out, Puncture, Sidewall damage, Bald patches etc

Overall assessment of the tyre - Choose from : - Excellent, good, poor, never again!

Wet weather performance - Choose from: - Excellent, good, nervous, never again!

To kick things off here is my own input

    6thGen 2007 VFR 800vtecABS – touring
    Bridgestone, BT021, 120/70/ZR17 – FRONT – 14 months/10802 miles – nearly worn out
    Overall - excellent
    Wet weather – good

    6thGen 2007 VFR 800vtecABS – touring
    Bridgestone, BT021, 180/55/ZR17 – REAR – 14 months/10802 miles – centre strip worn out
    Overall - excellent
    Wet weather – good

(Mods - If people think this is useful we may need to make this a sticky?)

    6thGen - 2003 VFR 800 vtec

Shinko 005 Front and Rear, stock sizing

    Riding style: local runs

    Overall - excellent (great value)

    Wet weather - unknown

Currently 1 year on the tires, ~1,000 miles. Just getting broken in. Hold great in corners, smooth ride responsive handling. Great value. I don't ride hard, or in the rain.

It's a good idea but the problem is enforcing it and allowing a consistent set of reviews. I suggested a similar idea having sort of a poll for tires where people rate tires.

    Joey Dude

You are right the trick will be getting people to post, consistent and comparable reviews.

Hopefully by seeking input only when people replace their tyres it should not be a major chore for us to all contribute to. OK It may need a bit of editing and possibly follow-ups to incomplete posts, but over time, this may be a worthwhile database for all of us – especially if it reveals lots of us are experiencing problems with the same tire.

Hi, Thanks for the tire talk. I just bought a VFR ('06) and it will need new rubber soon... just about stumped on the selection.
About the only thing I can say forsure is Bridgestone! BT016, 020, 021. (?)
I have a couple buddy's that swear by the BT021, and am likely to go that way.
