I have had numerous things to keep me from getting back into my carbs. Mostly non bike related, other that an unplanned gett off in the dirt on an adventure ride that proved too adventurous! Some damaged ribs and a hole in my lung. The 500 is sitting at 23300 miles so I am now contemplating some major down time as I want to get the carbs off and go through them entirely with the low speeds move to #40's and putting some shims on the mains, and thorough diaphram inspections, and multiple other research subjects suggested by Capt 80s and others here. Also I am understanding that it may be time to go further into the bike and look at the valve adjustment or at least verify correct lash etc. I have never done this before but think I can figure things out with some casual support from members here and maybe Youtube? I have the shop manual download to begin reviewing as well. What to have on hand for parts ahead of actually getting into the work will be necessary for sure. There is still some fall riding to do here in NM so I will be studying, and riding until late November.

I hope everyone is healthy and happy, I look forward to hearing from you all.
