I also tend to hang onto things for long periods of time, so I've only owned two bikes in 15 years:

1st bike (learned how to ride and wrench on bikes with this one):
1982 Yamaha XS400R Seca (I bought this as an incomplete, non-runner from a storage unit for $300 in 1999. I stripped it to the frame and completely restored it with used body pieces and new wear items. The bike was painted Corvette Grand Sport blue and I sold it for $1200 in 2007).

The front fender is missing in this picture, because I had just mounted the new front tire.

I bought my current bike, the 1996 VFR750F from a guy on craigslist in 2007. It was immaculate, and I traveled to West Springfield, MA to get it and rode it 215 miles home un-inspected, un-insured, and un-registered. In 2011, I laid it down in some gravel and decided to paint it RWB, aping the RC30 in 2010/2011.

    Just bought:

Yesterday, in preparation for the upcoming season, I replaced the HID ballasts, and made sure that they were no longer contacting the front carb tops (vibration killed the last set), and removed the passenger pegs and hangers. I had to fabricate a new hanger for the muffler, but I think this is at least a 4 lb savings... every ounce counts when my fat ass is in the saddle! lol

My first ride was 1996 Yamaha Virago 1100. It was a fun bike, but not exactly what I was looking for. I traded it in for my current bike which I bought new in 2001. IMG_0052.jpg

VT Viffer - seriously, that Seca was beautiful. But as nice as it was it pales in comparison to the VFR with the RC30 paint scheme. Wow!

    Numerous dirtbikes - sold
    91 CBR600F2 - sold
    93 Kawasaki ZX7R (slime green) - sold
    94 CBR600F2 - sold
Highly modified 2004 Subaru STI - sold.....Regret selling ( I know, it's not a bike. But damn it was stupid fast)
A 18 year hiatus from riding other than occasionally riding a buddies bike and then last year purchased my 2007 RWB. I have decided from here on out that I'm not selling a bike just because I buy a new one. I'm just going to expand my collection.

I started out with a 1977 Yamaha XS750. which I gave to my cousin last summer when I got my VFR
1982 CB750K. which I still have. I'm just looking for heritage insurance for it to keep my insurance cost down
1998 VFR800Fi. Pair removal, snorkle removed, tune up, HID, LED tail light, GPR thunder deeptone can. Just the power commander, motad headers and HEL braided brake lines left for now

I don't have digital pictures of my old bikes so I just found some random pics off the web. These are the correct color/year. My first road bike.
1976 Yamaha RD350 bought from my older brother in 1979. I was 16 years old and this was my transportation from High school thru two years in college.
My second bike,May of 1983 and I just graduated from tech school and traded in my RD350 on my first New bike. 1983 Yamaha Seca 750. I didnt even have a job yet... I dont think the dealers would allow that now. I learned throttle control and setting up your entry speed in corners....adjusting either mid turn was not wise with these old shaft drives.
May of 1987 and I just stopped in a my local Yamaha dealer to look at bikes and they had a CHERRY 1982 Seca 650 Turbo that I got to test drive....My first couple of full BOOST roll on's and I was hooked. The dealer wanted $2,500 (the bike was over $5,000 new)and the bike only had 2,500 miles...what the hell trade in time. I went on my first long distance solo trip ever and went to the Colorado Rockies over the July 4th week, in the summer of 87. My brother had a 1985 FJ1100 at the time and I remember staying dead even with him on full boost from 115mph+ roll on's.
Spring of 1992 and my Brother wanted to trade his FJ1100 on a GAWD daumn Honda VFR 750 that he found at a dealer...he bought his (NEW 91 leftover) and I made a secret deal on a leftover DEMO 91 750F. Two weeks later I had the bike in my garage and my brother comes over on his NEW 91 VFR to go riding. I'll never forget the look OF complete shock on his face, as I opened my garage and there was a matching 91 750 waiting for our ride! Highlight of our VFR's was our trip to the Colorado Rockies and we made it to the four corners area. Two brothers on matching bikes. I really learned how to sport ride with this bike.... :) :)
Married now(1990) and my wife wanted something more comfy than the VFR on our rides.
Along came another leftover ride, a 1993 ST1100 bought new in the spring of 1994.
For my first time ever I owned two motorcycles at once. The ST1100 was a very nice ride. I would hustle that thing over the Colorado Rockies. :)
Late summer of 97 and we are getting ready to start our family....sold both bikes and became bikeless until early summer of 2002 money being very tight I found a nice little jem of a bike.. a used 2001 ZX6E with under 500 miles on it. It was CHEAP to insure, I had it geared higher and got mid 50mpg's for my commute mileage.
August of 04 sold the ZX6E and welcomed home my second daughter. Bikeless until late June of 2011 Found a 2010 C14 and I was back in the saddle baby!!
March of 2012 and after 7600 miles on the C14 it was trade in time. Found a LEFTOVER 2010 VFR1200F DCT. Hope to ride all over North America on this baby.

Me and my VFR on the BRP last summer.

Friend of mine had 1 of those (two strokes where the thing) What a ball buster, only thing worse for scaring the bejesus out of you was the RD250/350 yammies that I rode as a bike courier in the late 60's. Then Kawasaki released the Mach 3 500cc & Suzuki decided to put a 500cc into a 250 frame. All with shit tyres & drum brakes (& heaps of blue smoke).
